cassity   10 #1 Posted November 26, 2015 Secular/atheist voices are being silenced with the use of machetes.  http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-trending-33822674  "The concern that many of us have is that while you cannot hurt religious sentiment, you can hurt secular sentiment as much as you want."  Thought, opinion, discussion, sentiment and most of all...reason. Reason, that blasphemous word alone is the enemy of 'faith', and in certain circles it's a death sentence.  So, if you're an atheist or even skeptical, keep it under your bonnet. Penistone999   10 #4 Posted November 26, 2015 For now  seeing how governments and countries bend over backwards to appease Religion , you could say " coming to a country near you soon " .
 Share this content via...
Andy76 Â Â 10 #5 Posted November 26, 2015 If you live in Bangladesh. sadly the mentality of those who cheerfully murder those they percieve to have insulted their religion does not respect borders. As we saw with the charlie hebdo murders, cartoons murders / attempted murders in various countries, salman rushdie etc etc.
 Share this content via...

cassity   10 #7 Posted November 27, 2015 Avijit Roy was living in America, he was only visiting Bangladesh.  Many of the bloggers have left their own country out of fear, living secret lives...primarily because their governments either turn a blind eye, or are complicit.  'We will respect you if you don't question our faith, if you do question we will murder you'. great schooling. Cyclone   10 #10 Posted November 27, 2015 If you live in many of, if not most Muslim countries with a majority Muslim population it would seem.  Really.  So you can come up with a list of mainly Muslim countries, where atheist bloggers have been killed? And not just a list, but a list that includes most such countries?
 Share this content via...
milquetoast1   10 #11 Posted November 27, 2015 Really. So you can come up with a list of mainly Muslim countries, where atheist bloggers have been killed? And not just a list, but a list that includes most such countries?  I suspect that most atheists in 'mainly Muslim' countries don't admit to being atheist, and 'blogging' is not ubiquitous.  So if we were to change your request to a list of people killed for expressing negative views of Islam, or simply secular views, then I would say yes I could come up with a list. Alan Ladd   10 #12 Posted November 27, 2015 Secularism is on the rise in Muslim countries and elsewhere. Globalism, the desire for material things and a better life are slowly overcoming religion.  Murder in defence of religion is a sign of weakness and desperation.
