Osborne, £1.5 Trillion, worse debt since world wars

Recommended Posts

Osbourne has spent more money than any other chancellor and put this country in more debt at any time in peacetime history.

Osborne has increased debt by 29.9%, the worse since both world wars.

So much for the Tories being the party of managing the economy!!!

The Autumn Statement should be 'fun' how to how he's going to 'fix' this.

That debt was inherited from past, it didn't happen all of a sudden like.

Look for more specific figures if you want to make a political statement.

Labour is just as responsible for it as tories.

See that graph in that article there in bottom?

Yes they are both responsible.

But we have reaching a point where > 50% of the debt was created by Osborne, in just 5 years. This is despite his projection that (unavoidably to be fair) he expected it to increase by 30% in that time.

Are you complaining that the Tories haven't cut enough spending?

This chart says that we aren't in all that bad situation. <-clicky link

Look at context not just the number.

I am too busy to do that but there is surely information available online on structure of spendings through years. About 40-50% is welfare and healthcare, isn't that what they are addressing now?

The Tories have borrowed more in their last three years in office then Labour's thirteen years.

created or interest on the debt they inherited?

You are confusing debt with borrowing. Of course if you keep borrowing the debt will rise, but you can decrease the borrowing at the same time.

The UK Debt has risen as a direct result of Labours explosion on borrowing since 2001. Thats why the county had is so good, Labour borrowed and borrowed and borrowed ignoring the consequences.

The governments since 2010 (don't forget the Lib Dems) have decreased borrowing but are still forced to service the debt they inherited and they still need to keep services running while they look at ways and means to decrease these costs.

I wouldn't bother. They all know that but it is the last twig they have to cling on to. Just look at the opinion polls regarding who is trusted to run the British economy and see who is believed.

Do you really not understand what a deficit is, and at what level it was at when inherited from Labour? Of course debt could only rise in the medium term. Primary school maths.
