Wortley Top Forge is the oldest surviving heavy iron forge in the world with records dating the existing buildings back to 17th century.

Recent evidence indicates that cistercian monks may have settled in this area as early as 11th century.

Ghostly figures are frequently seen in the forge and surrounding area.

Seeking Spirit Events are a local paranormal team based at the Fire and Police Museum. Myself and Theresa are both on the committee at the museum, Theresa is also a trustee/company sec, I,m in charge of development of the museum. In addition SSE also do ghost hunts at a number of charity,s in the South Yorkshire area, such as Fire and Police Museum, Wortley Top Forge and Wentworth Castle and Gardens. Seeking Spirit Events has been in existence ( in one form or another) since approx 2005,all monies raised are given to the charity,s involved, we don,t take wages/petrol allowance, infact a big fat zero.
