The Sheffield gay scene part 2

I do think finally that things are changing for the better in Sheffield and it may soon have a gay scene comparable with other big cities in the region...see here:

There are some more bars, and even a Sauna! soon in the offing ...

 

I think its something to do with the conversion of the whole block that Dempseys is situated in. I'm not sure if the owner of Dempseys owns the whole block also but they seem to be working with and not against the new bar, Queer Junction.

 

It also seems to be boosting local jobs and no doubt trade also when they are all open ...

Also I believe that a certain local drag celebrity :hihi:is starting up her own DJ night this Thursday in the Three Cranes ... so lots happening on the Sheffield Scene at the moment

Please support her, she needs the audience as I believe that the other DJ has now dropped out of the act :-(

Waiting for the 'pub' venue to open, hoping it's a bit more to my taste (old sod who likes guitar music). 

Is there another pub opening soon? I have heard there is a male-only sauna opening but that does not interest me 😕

I sympathise with the attack in Queer Junction a few weeks back - not sure if it was homophobic or not or just some ******** customers, and it has set them back a bit in their plans to open more gay venues in the quarter, but glad that QJ is open as usual again now and soldiering on while the venue damage  is repaired.

I've heard there is a new gay bar opening on the Moor area soon called "The Box" - and thet Queer Junction is turning night club  only - can anyone confirm this or does anyone have any more details? 

I've seen the new bar 'Social Rehab' taking shape at the bottom of the Moor. Does anybody know what it's going to be like? 

I've not been yet, but good to see that Dempseys has finally reopened and on a recent visit there it felt totally Covid secure and safe. 

Also concerning Covid, it was good to see that DINA venue which has often done LGBT events in the past, have received support money to keep going through the pandemic crisis.

They're reopening on 21 June, according to their Facebook page.

Dempseys plan to reopen 21st June when hopefully Covid restrictions will be lifted and they can operate a nightclub style venue. https://www.facebook.com/DempseysSheffield

Queer Junction is opening at a minute past midnight in the early hours of Monday 17th May complying with the Covid guidelines (table service etc). https://www.facebook.com/queerjunction

I guess the date for Dempseys has now moved forward to July  19th?

And did Queer Junction manage to open in May in the end? I must admit  I've not been in town late evening for weeks now 😕
