Hmmm...  ... the U-turn was in response to their fans wishes?  So if you believe that one, you have to accept that up until the BBC called their bluff the club clearly had no idea of their fans wishes and assumed that they would happily pay for a service that was previously free.  It's obviously just a convenient excuse to try to save face and get the fans back onside after yet another money-grabbing scheme has been highlighted...
