Other presidents at least tried to bring remotely sensible gun laws into being, despite the difficulties in doing so.

But other presidents failed and Trump knows it. Even when Clinton put some legislation through a few years ago, the NRA got their own guys in Congress and the legislation was repealed a year after it was introduced. Just because Trump is smart enough to know he can't beat them, doesn't mean he agrees with them and actually roots for them, as some of you guys suggest.

And so it goes on.Another 11 killed in Pittsburgh by some disaffected ,mentally ill,or just plain murderous individual.

One of Trumps comments is that the tragedy may have been averted by having armed guards at the synagogue.

So everyone needs to be armed to protect themselves from others who are armed.

It’s one of the American rights that I am glad we do not have,although a similar logic seems to exist on the streets of Britain where kids carry knives “for protection”.

Ironic then that the right to bear arms was in the 2nd Amendment isn't it?

A quick google says there has been 27 amendments. But I doubt there's enough public support in states to put it forward to get rid of the right bear arms from the US constitution. They like guns.

yes Pittsburgh's large Muslim community coming out so strongly and so quickly with the Jewish community there was just about the best thing to emerge from this horrific incident and which is the worst antisemitic incident in the history of the United States.

Pennsylvania might have gone for Trump but Pittsburgh certainly didn't. Both Pittsburgh's Muslims and Jews gave him the rods at the election. He's surely not going to turn up for a visit.
