woodmally   10 #1 Posted June 30, 2015 Looks like the taxi drivers in Rotherham are going on strike.  http://www.thestar.co.uk/news/local/taxi-drivers-to-take-strike-action-in-rotherham-tomorrow-with-blockades-threatened-1-7334474  All because they have to obey a few new rules. Do they not understand why they are being brought in.
 Share this content via...
haddy   10 #2 Posted June 30, 2015 It's absolutely appalling that they feel the need to strike! What is the problem unless they have got something to hide?! Makes you wondering what they upto if they are that against protecting there customers!
 Share this content via...
byeo   10 #3 Posted June 30, 2015 Set of (insert chosen expletive here), what do you have to hide ? Surely after that poor woman who got mugged the other week by two guys with a knife, they would welcome something like this. Again, do they have something to hide? Bludragonfly   10 #6 Posted June 30, 2015 They went on strike on Saturday 6pm to Sun 6am  Only fools would campaign against something that is to make them and their passengers safer  Thanks to Commissioner Ney the policy is in place and effective from Monday so too late to strike and campaign - why didn't they do it when the policy was issued for consultation? At least there were no elected councillors putting pressure on other elected councillors to vote in their favour as may have happened without the commissioner
 Share this content via...

Vehicles less then 10year old means some will folk out for a newer car, exactly how is a newer car going to prevent someone getting raped or groomed? The cctv cameras will record even when cab drivers are not working which is also one of the issues as some also use the cars for personal family use. It's not like the cameras will be monitored constantly. It would only be on receipt of a complaint that the CCTV will be examined. It would only be on receipt of a complaint that the CCTV will be examined.  They will be recording constantly every time the key is in the ignition from what I have read and that's one of the reasons drivers are up in arms plus the cost is on the drivers toes. cgksheff   44 #11 Posted June 30, 2015 nothing new here. This has been recommended before the Child Abuse issues arose.  The additional cost in addition to all the other fees is minimal. If a driver doesn't like it ... OK.  There are plenty waiting to take the fares.
 Share this content via...
