foxy lady   10 #25 Posted July 16, 2012 Technically you can park a car on the road. You need a secure cover, one that covers the numberplate and tax disc. By law, traffic wardens and DVLA bod's are not allowed to lift the cover to check the car's credentials. However, don't be surprised if "the wind" removes it partially, regardless of how secure it is.  Failure to display springs to mind. If your number plate and tax aren't visible technically they don't exist. It's rather like your pay and display parking ticket. Popping it in the glove box doesn't really help your cause. yorkiepudd   10 #27 Posted July 16, 2012 (edited) They don't send warning letters about no insurance. It attracts on the spot fines and vehicles removed from the road.  That's only if you are caught using it I on the highway. If you dont insure or sorn the vehicle the dvla database automatically issues a warning letter now, followed by an automatic fine if you fail to respond.  It is possible however to still have the vehicle impounded if the police happened to drive past and noticed it wasn't insured, but there would be no fine or penalty points as the offence is using a vehicle without insurance, not parking it on the road without insurance,. Uptowngirl   10 #30 Posted July 16, 2012 the offence is using a vehicle without insurance, not parking it on the road without insurance,.  If a vehicle is on the public highway it is in use. It is the same parking an unroadworthy vehicle with bald tyres.
 Share this content via...
