Off the Beaten Track Beer Festival, 1-4 September 3 pubs..

Morning all, I saw a snippet in the Star the other week about a small beer festival starting (I think) on the 1st of September and lasting a couple of days. Pubs featured were the Forest on Rutand Street, the Gardeners and the Hillsborough Hotel, although there may have been some more. Does anyone know any more about it? Cheers.

Yes there is definitely a beer festival going on between the three pubs.

I'm from the Hillsborough Hotel - the festival starts on Thursday through til Sunday for all three pubs and there will be a good variety of beers - up to 50/60 between the three of us.

As well as the beer festival, at the Hillsborough Hotel we have a music quiz on the Thursday night (1 Sept) which is a bit of fun but also raises money for our nominated charity, Prostate Cancer UK, and on Saturday night we have live music with the Amelia Carter Band.

I will be posting the beer list for the Hillsborough Hotel in the next couple of days. Looking forward to seeing faces old and new over the beer festival!

For anyone wanting a day out there is a really good beer festival at the Ferry house, Burton Stather on the 2nd/3rd/4th Sep. Lovely spot by the river, micro brewery, live music, food etc. Its always a good one.

Gosh, that pub brings back memories. Used to go fishing there in a big pond during the mid Seventies. I seem to remember there was also a pub there called the Sheffield Arms or something like that. Happy days!!

Yep, Sheffield arms at the top of the hill, ferry at the bottom. Was in both last night, good pubs but better beer at the Ferry.

Sheffield Brewery Company, Percy Street. Buses 7/8.

Will be open to the public for their monthly tap room session & beer club from 5pm on Friday and Saturday evening. A range of their beers will be on the bar including the new monthly special which this month is a honey amber ale.

Peddlers Market, Burton Street. Buses 7/8.

Open 5pm to 11pm Friday and 2pm to 11pm Saturday. Hosted in an old factory/warehouse type complex and featuring many street food vendors, art, makers stalls, music, a coffee shop/bakery and various bars serving craft beer, real ales and cocktails.

GETTING TO AND BETWEEN THE VENUES

Bus 7 (Stagecoach) and 8 (First) link Sheffield City Centre with the Harlequin, Riverside, Sheffield Brewery, Peddlers Market, Gardeners Rest and New Barrack Tavern. Supertram (yellow route or blue route) link Sheffield City Centre with the Hillsborough Hotel (Langsett Primrose View tram stop), additionally Bamforth Street tram stop is near the New Barrack Tavern. Alternatively walk downhill at the side of the Hillsborough Hotel and it will bring you out on the junction of Neepsend Lane and Penistone Road, where you can pick up buses 7 or 8 (or in fact walk to the Gardeners). Trams run every 5 minutes in the daytime, every 10 minutes in the evening.
