I vaguely remember a sitcom called "Gaffer", and another one called "Shelley".

I'm not usually a fan of American comedy, but I thought Soap was very funny.

As was The Golden Girls.

Alan Hartley you remember right, the Gaffer and Shelley were both sitcoms from years gone by, Shelley starred Hywel Bennet and The Gaffer starred Bill Maynard of Selwyn Froggit fame.

Mulberry starring Karl Howman and the late Geraldine McEwan was an unusual sitcom which was aired in the early 1990s. Some of the episodes are available on YouTube.

Don't agree about Soap. It was a great show. The spin-off Benson wasn't too hot.

'Fairly Secret Army' (Ch4, mid-80's) starring Geoffrey Palmer ('Butterflies'). He plays a right-wing ex-military man setting up his own militia; loosely based on the character he played in 'The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin'.

I'm not sure how well-remembered 'Ripping Yarns' is compared to 'Fawlty Towers' but it's great.

There was a US thing I loved as a kid called 'Holmes & Yoyo'.

'Set of Six' by Rowland Rivron, where he plays all six grown up sextuplets in an episode each.

Not a sitcom but a comedy drama, 'Prospects' Ch.4 again, mid eighties, starring the late Gary Olsen and Brian Bovell.

"Prospects " was like a poor mans Minder . Two lads ducking and diving to make a living . Having said that , it wasn't bad

Just a Gigolo, from 1992 or 93ish, with the lovely Tony Slatterly.

. What Nicholas Lyndhurst did when he wasn't doing Only Fools and Horses in the 80s.

And these two I remember mainly for the theme songs and the actresses' hair:

.

(quite liked this one at the time).

Forgotten all about Watching, had quite a little crush on Emma Wray when this was on.
