Reviews for car motion in mexborough

Recommended Posts

Car Motion. Formerly Economy Cars (Mexborough) Ltd. with an almost zero Trade credit rating.

Owned by brother Mark and Paul Dunston. Economy Cars (Mexborough) Ltd and Economy Cars (Doncasrer) Ltd were dissolved and the company was reformed as Car Motion on 11th May 2009.

High mileage and overpriced cars at almost full retail value and usually sold with an equally overpriced aftermarket warrranty. They used to specialise in being able to get credit facilities for people with an almost zero credit rating but you paid through the nose for it. Perhaps they still do.

Why would anyone choose this company to purchase a car from? There are better dealers and better deals if you take the time to look.

Bought the car. Seems okay. They are high mileage motors, as ex-lease hire My car was an ex Chubb car. Mine had done 97,000 with full service history, and just had the main service undertaken. They MoT'd the car, put new tyres on the front as these were down to 3mm and taxed for 6mths. So far I'm happy. As you would expect the cars have a few issues (nothing major, actually very minor) due to the mileage they have done.

Price wise, I couldn't find a comparable car cheaper after looking for three months. Visited some dealers in Doncaster and the sales people were shockingly bad. The gentleman I dealt with wasn't pushy in the slightest, I test drove a couple of cars, to get the feel for what I wanted.

If I do get any issues I'll let you know.

As for the owners, never dealt with them, and I've yet to come across a second hand car dealer that people don't class as 'dodgy'.

After yesterday's experience I would never go back to these jokers again!!! Parts falling off engines during test drives! The sales guy leaving us hanging while he made a drama about it and then being plain rude during negotiations

I bought a Mondeo Titanium X from these when they were Economy cars. They sold it as having FSH and 2 keys, which I stupidly allowed them to send on to me as they were still awaiting them...they never turned up and then denied ever saying it had FSH....Cost me £££££ on the resale! Never Again

The dealer will never know how the previous owner treated the car, its no good saying this dealer is bad compare to others when most of the stock are from the same auctions around yorkshire. Thats why it is important to found someone who knows about cars to go over it and see if anything is wrong, much better then whats the mileage and kick the tyre

Steer Clear! From my personal experience I would not use Car motion again neither would I recommend to a friend, family member or enemy.

Regretted purchase practically as soon as I got the vehicle home as fault lights started lighting up on dash. Upon contacting Car motion I was quick to find their after sales service to be shocking and let's just say practically none existent. People wouldn't call back when they said they would, generally taking up a whole day to get back to you, which in turn was then another day with a faulty car.

It took over a month with them having to take the vehicle back to "Fix" the same fault 4 times for it to finally, touch wood, be in a condition we can use. Needless to say faith in the vehicle has been lost. Although they collected the vehicle each time, well they had to really as it would not run and the garage was not close, the state of the courtesy cars left was appalling. To name but a few things, no tax on car, engine management light on, filthy inside, stinking of smoke, never any fuel (not even enough to get to a garage to put some in as they brought it on the back of a truck!), they would also drive my car back to me once they thought it was fixed, using the fuel I had put in and not replacing it.

Tried rejecting the vehicle on numerous occasions but nobody would talk to me about this. The whole issue caused stress that was not needed. They did not reply to any emails sent to them. Resorted to letters, first one never got a reply, finally had a reply to second letter after speaking to someone on the phone over a week after sending it, their reply was basically washing their hands of it all.

Not wasting anymore time & energy on these cowboys, only to write reviews to warn others. Do your homework, as I didn't and paid for it. Also check out how many times the business has been closed and re-opened under different names, I was shocked. :o

If your gonna buy from a dealer Evans Halshaw are generally reasonably priced, you'll find it hard to find like for like as the salesmen don't get as much commission as other garages hence they have a faster turn around.

In saying the above if you have the bottle to do it then I would suggest buying from auction every time, that's where they all get them from and you will save yourself quite a lot of money, one of the best auctions I've bought from is Derby bca auctions, you can generally find a catalogue of cars from up coming auctions online, the advantage to you is that when you are there you will mostly be bidding against a dealers buyer who will have a set target usually the bottom book price.

Wouldn't touch evans halshaw with a barge pole, a work colleague had a problem with a car he bought from them and their after sales service was zilch. My partner had problems with a car he bought from lookers and they bent over backwards with their after sales service.

I'm not shocked, they never had a good name when I lived in Mexborough.
