Bilge   34 #49 Posted September 7, 2017 It's been sold and is being refurbished. It will re open as a pub, probably around Christmas time and will have real ale as well as the more traditional Tetleys, Carling etc.  Scaffolding up and work in progress now. It would be nice to see it reopen as a decent pub.
 Share this content via...

Really pleased it would have been a big shame to lose another pub in walkley.
 Share this content via...

sergeantb   10 #53 Posted October 15, 2017 It’s going to be called The Blind Monkey and will be opening early 2018 after a comprehensive refurbishment. Their website isn’t online yet but they do have a Facebook page.  Veritas is correct, the guys behind The Cadeby Inn pub in the village of Cadeby near Doncaster are behind this pub. The Cadeby Inn has recently won a ‘Best Gastro Pub’ award and specialises in a wide range of real ales, beers, whisky and gin alongside a brilliant food menu. Bilge   34 #54 Posted October 16, 2017 I went past today and saw they seem to be upgrading the outside wood panels and maybe windows. So they seem to be spending some money on the refurb, it's not just a quick repaint of what is there. Seems an odd choice for them though as it couldn't be much less like the Cadeby Inn as a venue. But good luck to the new venture.
 Share this content via...

BurtBackcrak   10 #56 Posted November 3, 2017 Great news! It'll do really well, plenty of people in Walkley wantig places like this. While we're discussing Walkley pubs, does anyone have any news on the Rose House? It loks like it's having a facelift with some momey spent on hand painted signage? Blake, Blind Monkey, Walkley Beer Co. then the Library....a decent enough crawl.
 Share this content via...

jake   10 #60 Posted January 11, 2018 Anyone heard anything on an openig date yet? Looks like the externals are complete now...looking smart.  I'd heard the original plan was to open in January - but (and this is all third hand - so feel free to take with a pinch of salt) there was some issue with building regs thats going to require more work - and so its unlikely to be much before Easter.  Does anyone have a more official version of events?
