  1. Hi, Thanks for that - it's worth knowing. Another careful read of the fine letter and the signs in the car park is on the cards. Appreciate the comment.
  2. Hi, Maybe you should read my post again, particularly the sentence "She was aware of the time limits." No the reasons are: No account is taken of the time to actually find a parking space (15 minutes) No account is taken of the time to work your way out of the car park (5 minutes) £85 is an extortionate price, even when reduced to £50, it is double most car parks excess charges (and I travel the country so I speak from experience). A charge of £2.95 to process a debit card (actual cost, around 60p) is expensive. These sorts of charges have been investigated by the Office Of Fair Trading in respect of sites offering flights, but this company gets away with it for parking charges. No doubt you will say she should have kept an eye on the time. True. At most times of the year this is not a problem. But at the busiest time of the year, when you have queued for several minutes and are next in line you can either wait and be served for another minute or two or forget the purchase to get back to the car park and buy what you need from elsewhere. Deciding to support local shops in this case was an expensive mistake.
  3. Hi All, I didn't get time to read the whole thread but as regards shopping in Hillsborough, we wont again. My wife decided to visit Hillsborough for Xmas shopping and parked in the car park behind Farm Foods. She was aware of the time limits. It took about 15 minutes to get a parking space, there were obviously queues in the shops (she bought from 4 or 5 shops in Hillsborough) and it took another 5 minutes to get out of the car park. Because you registration plate is read on entry to and exit from the car park, she was over the time limit. She got an £85 fine, reduced to £50 if paid by 31st December. We spoke to people about appealing but the general opinion is that appeals fail and take you over the reduced payment limit, thus costing £85 instead of £50. Because of Xmas post my wife decided to pay this on the Internet by debit card, for which they charge £2.95! Sorry, but its not worth the expense or hassle so Hillsborough is now off our list.

  7. Hi, FREE WEDDING DVD! If you're getting married in the next few weeks and have decided that a wedding DVD is something you'd like but is a luxury you can't afford then I have a solution for you. I'm branching into wedding DVD and need two weddings to put together a show reel. Here's what I'm offering totally free of charge (although see the note about the service): Filming the bride getting ready before the wedding Filming the wedding itself including - the venue with the arrival of the guests - the service - note that this is subject to approval of the official and venue. If there's a charge for this then you will have to pay that - signing of the registers - leaving the venue, confetti throwing etc. Filming at the reception including - greeting the guests - speeches - first dance Editing the video footage to produce a wedding DVD presented in its case. The DVD will include the complete day and a "highlights" track. What I need in return is: - To use the footage in my show reel - An honest testimonial of how I handled the shoot and the final product Both of these may be used in future promotion. If you're interested then please contact me using the PM.
  8. Hi, We recently had our boiler upgraded by the plumbers ST Shaw & Son. They gave us the best quote, came when they said they would, did the work in the time they said they would and charged what they quoted (despite fitting a couple of extra valves and other bits). The plumber and his mate were professional, hard working, and cleared up after they finished. ST Shaw and Son Ltd Tel: 0114 231 2010
  9. I'd agree with Spa 1877. I have to declare my bias though. My brother maintains the place but I can at least guarantee that its well looked after! :-) In all seriousness, the staff are friendly, professional and committed. They have a good voucher scheme and fair prices too.
  10. Just a thought. Is it worth asking if the client has a particular preference or theme (e.g. 70's 80's). You have room on the booking form and may be able to charge extra for a theme night. All the best with it.
  11. Hi, Most newspapers and free papers are always looking for articles for publication. Try writing a short article about what your charity does and email it to all your local papers. Good luck. Glenn
