  1. Hi, my wife Lou was wondering if anyone remembered her dad, he was John Stewart, and Irish, and would have been working at Dormer some time between 65 - 69. He had a wife Elizabeth, and 6 kids called Helen, Ian, Hazel, Louise, Carol and Joe. He died in 69 with leukaemia aged 40 and we know the staff did a whip round for his family, which was really appreciated and needed at the time if anyone remembers him even vaguely please reply because Lou just wants to say thank you, and hear any stories about her dad. Thanks for your time
  2. Hi, I am registered with the PDSA for my cat, but will shortly be taking in a puppy. Can I register her with them as well? I have seen a similar post on here that says 3 pets per household, but that was posted in 2012. Does anyone know if this is still the case? Thanks
  3. Hi all, my partner needs a driving instructor quickly. Her test is in 3 weeks and there has been a problem with her instructor which means she can't carry on with them, for reasons I don't need to go into here. She has been told she is test ready, and is confident driving around, but there are a couple of things such as complicated lane changes and weird traffic light set ups which have marred her confidence. Test is on 20th August, but this can be changed up to 15th August. Need to keep the momentum going though and she really needs a new instructor in the next few days that can take her through a test. They also need to be someone who is patient and calm throughout. She is available throughout most of the day any weekday or weekend, which helps a lot, as most people need evening slots. Is there a kind hearted instructor out there who is able to help in a pinch, or any recommendations with phone numbers? Thanks all, I know Sheffield people will be able to help ---------- Post added 06-08-2014 at 22:56 ---------- To Rad, the moderator, That doesn't seem fair, you've moved my post to another thread, straight away, and it's now buried so far no one can find it! I'm asking for help, but now no one will see it? How does that help?
  4. Hi, Is there anywhere in Sheffield or nearby I can take a friend to teach them the basics of driving before they start paid lessons? There used to be Lightwood but that has closed down now. Thanks
  5. Thank you all for your advice, will definitely be following this up. Cheers ---------- Post added 08-03-2014 at 22:26 ---------- Thanks Boston, looking at the website it says £15, but I've messaged them to ask about it, with a link to this post, we'll see what comes back!
  6. Hi, My partner and I thought we would like to try our hand at golf. I played a little when I was a teenager (30 years ago!) and my partner has never played. We don't have the money to go and spend on lots of kit, or spend tons on lessons if we decide it's not for us. We don't really know where to start, so if anyone can help us out here we'd be very grateful. How do we get to have a taster without our own clubs and without committing ourselves to something we can't afford? Any ideas much appreciated Thanks Brian
  7. Hi Charlotte, do you have more details, such as price, times, menu etc? I've looked on your website but there's nothing about NYE as yet. Cheers
  8. Does anyone have any ideas what to do on New Years Eve this year? It's my partners birthday and it's always difficult to find something. We don't do clubbing, a little too long in the tooth for that. I've looked at shows, but there's nothing obvious. I thought maybe a meal somewhere which would include some sort of entertainment perhaps, but I'm open to any suggestions! Please help me keep the missus happy on her birthday! Cheers all Barnh
  9. You can go to Rother Valley, but anyone in the dinghy must bewearing a lifejacket. Either take your own or hire theirs for about a fiver.
  10. Does nobody take a dinghy out round here to have a paddle? I'd love to know where to go without going to Cleethorpes or paying out for Rother Valley? Please help!
  11. One of the best shops I know is Fish Inc in Handsworth. Quite a range of fish and they seem to know what they're talking about
  12. I've just bought a large 4 man rubber dinghy and I'm looking for somewhere to use it near Sheffield. Does anyone know where I can take it? Can I use it on Ladybower? Thanks
