  5. Just wondered what the general opinion is with Pure Gym. Are there any other places open 24 hours? What are the facilities like? How does it compare to Virgin / Esporta etc...?

  9. I'm kidding Nathan, mate. Fundraising is difficult I know, especially these days. The poor buggers who run these sessions deserve a medal as well. How's things with the U15 lads pal?
  10. £3.00 for an hour is a rip off. Think you should do it for half the price.
  11. Really sorry Pink but my lads both play Sundays and I am lucky enough to get to see both games so afraid it a no goer then. Keep in touch though.
  12. Soz, Lew & Pink. Wednesday is a bad day but moreover there's not enough space there to do anything constructive there. Maybe during the spring / summer. Cheers.
  13. Maybe - coachings been on the back burner for a while to be fair but tell me what you need, where you train etc... see if it fits in with existing commitments
  14. Man U decided 20 years back to adopt the approach that it is not the result but the performance that counts. It has been tried and tested for them and is the ethos from their U7's all the way through. Jim Ryan, Director of Football at Man U said 'It’s not about winning matches, it’s about how we win the matches, that is what is important’. What they did was to take the decision that whilst the players needed to understand the need to win matches, the results would become secondary to performances and they started coaching to a syllabus to improve players technically and to improve their game understanding. I recall a junior football match (U11 age) convincingly won away at Middlewood Rovers, where our lads had played awfully, but at that time we were simply better than them between the sticks. At the end when the manager tried to explain to them that although the win was great there were numerous things that could have been done better on the pitch during the game to avoid being under the cosh all the second half, the parents went mental. Unfortunately, the Man U way will never catch on because chairmen, managers, coaches and fans are results driven. People are too thick to understand that is why we, as a nation, are simply not good enough and players ultimately are not coming through.
  15. Sheffgrow - we have moves afoot to fill the missing gap at U10, next season at the U11 age. Already been approached by a lad who coaches with a view to just that. Strangely enough the former manager that had the team folded managed to wreck it by a lack of enthusiasm, no variation in training and standing around in queues getting **** wet through. Remarkably similar to what happened with the U9s before Glyn Radford took over. Is your lad playing now?
  16. Absolutely right Sheffgrow. The enthusiasm from the manager has to be there has to be variety in the training. Gotta be age appropriate, loads of fun and laughs but they have to be challenged to improve - and that HAS TO be apparent to both players and parents. They should all be running with a ball at their feet. I used to make our U7's have the ball at their feet even when they wanted to run to the the bushes for a piddle. :-) I watched one of the U9 sessions last night and every kid had a ball, no queues, no waiting to take their turn at shooting, mini goals were up and the kids looked like they were having a great time. They will improve rapidly. Well done to Glyn Radford the U9 manager. If anyone wants to go training with a view to a trial Glyn can be contacted on 07934 232343.
  17. Evening all - thanks to posters like Titanic99 and Sheffgrow and with hard work by the new manager Glyn Radford and other memebrs of the club, Norton Lees JFC U9's looks completely revitalised. We have 16 players with room for another four in the squad. We even made it into the Sheffield Star. http://www.thestar.co.uk/news/We-need-you-on-our.6524223.jp Thanks again
