  1. A quick guide; http://malwaretips.com/blogs/remove-conduit-apps-search-and-toolbar/
  2. Yes but beware as most are clones especially the recent uploads. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-26136781
  3. I would steer clear of them as well after having problems with a faulty MB which they refused to replace. Other places can be cheaper too if you shop around.
  4. There was also a Sheffield Linux user who forced Microsoft to give him a refund after uninstalling the windows OS on a laptop from PC World. He did not accept the terms of the EULA and took a video of him wiping the drive as evidence.
  5. Oh dear, been using reflect for a while and didn't realise it also did that so thanks for the info.
  6. If you want decent sound then steer away from a sound bar. I had one and quickly sold it as it just was not good enough and now use the audio hi-fi for the sound. I have one of these and rout the audio from the TV via spdif it then goes analogue from this converter to the stereo. I moved the speakers to the side of the TV and all is fine. http://www.amazon.co.uk/High-Grade-DAC-Analogue-Converter/dp/B005HFTUO0/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1392032535&sr=1-1&keywords=spdif+to+analogue Maybe think about it as it will cost less than £20 to do and should sound as good as music on the stereo, less clutter too.
  7. I have one of these 28" full 1080p TV's which cost me £149 in a sale at e-buyer and it has a 5ms response rate: http://www.hannspree.eu/products/televisions/led/sv-series/sv28lmmb Its connected by HDMI and is fine for all the modern games I play with a crystal clear display and max setting on a GTX 660ti. TBH I prefer the 16:10 aspect ratio but the only drawback is because its on a HDMI cable from the PC its seen as 16:9. But, its hardly noticeable and not much to worry about. One thing to consider is that games consoles seem to render fine without much problems using a TV.
  8. Not sure about the box, even though it splits the signal it sounds like a filter problem. Try plugging a filter into the phone side and then plug the router and phone into that to see if that helps.
  9. Just been using Minitool partition wizard (free) and that has an alignment tool. After cloning run it and select the partition then a menu will pop up, just chose "align" http://www.partitionwizard.com/ A free and good cloning tool. http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.aspx
  10. Its not an OSX rip off, its a Linux OS (Red Hat based) made to look like OSX that's all. Cant see what the fuss is about as Linux has had this OSX lookalike for years.
  11. Hi. I'm having problems with a cyborg R.A.T.3 mouse not being recognised properly on Zorin, it will not allow clicking on items. I have done some checking and know how to fix it using Ubuntu by using the xorg.conf file but Zorin seems not to use one. Done a search on-line but no joy. I have used xinput -list and it has given the details of the mouse as; Saitek Cyborg R.A.T.3 Mouse Anyone know what conf file to alter? Thanks.
  12. I'm sick of them also and have just had a bad experience with renewing my contract with them. My contract was a few days from finishing so I decided to renew. I looked at their advertisement and read that they did an unlimited phone and broadband package for £2.50 PM for 12 months plus the usual line rental. When I finally go through I asked if they would renew it the same as advertised and was told yes, so I decided to go ahead. I received confirmation and to my surprise the contract stated 12 month line rental but a 24 month broadband contract. After the initial 12 months at £2.50 they then would then charge £9.99 for the next 12 months. I Phoned again and after 24 mins got through to complain and said the advert was misleading as people would assume the broadband contract would also be for 12 months. I quoted the advert and was then told to look at the link "Here's the legal bit." That stated that the broadband contract was for 18 months at £2.50 for the first 12 months and then £9.99 thereafter. I complained again and then stated that in the details that I received the contract states 24 months. The reply was "its because it was done on the phone!" After much complaining in the end they relented and reduced it to a 12 month contract so when this one is up I shall give them the boot. It would be interesting if people here could look at the ad and see what they make of it as to me, not stating up front that the broadband is for 18 months is very misleading.
  13. Unfortunately you will need an XP disk to fix this. You boot up with the disk and go into the recovery console, from there you chose the fixmbr command. That will then write a new boot record, you then take out the cd and boot up as normal. Sorry, got interrupted while writing and another poster suggested the same.
  14. Have you tried discharging the cmos on the motherboard? Also, what make/model motherboard is it?
  15. Yep, they are rubbish and are not worth £20 yet alone £200.
  16. Only met him once and found him very polite. Sad news, so R.I.P mate.

  18. That is the big flaw in the argument as Apple are notorious at producing different updated versions each year so expect more to come in the future. The way tablets specs are going at the moment they are developing fast in both CPU/GPU power and also memory capacity so their practical life becomes less. Better to pay less for something that then can be easily replaced in a few years without denting the wallet too much. For a child, having a very high resolution screen is not a big deal on a 7-8 inch tablet, nor is having a high pixel camera. 1280x800 is fine for apps and games and so is a 2MP camera. Having a high def screen also increases the battery drain so there is a trade off as the battery will have to be bigger thus increasing costs.
  19. But they would say that wouldn't they? It seems that most Apps currently used for the ipad are also just up-scaled iphone apps and not written specifically for the ipad. http://www.howtogeek.com/174631/htg-explains-just-how-bad-are-android-tablet-apps/ Twitter now has one and there are several others available as many Android apps are now being designed just for tablets. The Google Play store also now shows "Designed for tablets" as its default setting. Android is catching up and will soon overtake iOS and mainly because of cost. ---------- Post added 03-12-2013 at 19:06 ---------- Last Christmas I bought my 4 year old grandson a Nabi 2 and he was very happy with it. A good 7" tablet for kids but.. Although it was supposedly unbreakable and shows a crash drop test he dropped it, and the screen cracked. Unfortunately Nabi customer service is rubbish and almost non-existent and to get the screen replaced would have cost around £70. If it wasn't for their bad support I would recommend one. So for a first tablet steer clear of anything expensive and especially ones that have ipad written on them. As a replacement for his 5th birthday and because he is very good at school with the 3 r's I ended up getting one of these: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sanei-N83-Quad-Core-Capacitive/dp/B00ENFGF16/ref=sr_1_sc_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1386096426&sr=1-1-spell&keywords=saniei+10%22+tablet No bluetooth but fairy decent specs. An A31 quad core CPU and also has a good GPU a PowerVR SGX 544MP (similar to an ipad). I did use Antutu benchmark on it and think it was around the 12000 mark which is quite good. Only bad remark it that the sound is a bit low but fine on headphones. I got it direct from China but if you get it from Amazon their returns policy is very good, so you could see if you like it first. He has been using it for 4 months and its still working fine.
  20. Try Exact Audio Copy, its free and does what it states and will also tell you about any errors that cant be corrected. However, that also means that it takes longer to rip. FLAC is its default setting but you can download and install other codecs as well. Make sure you don't have volume normalisation "on" despite what ripper you use as that can produce distortion especially on CD's that have been mastered using compression (a compressor).
  21. Unless GCHQ are checking you out secretly or you grass yourself up who else would know you had format shifted?
  22. As already said it the best upgrade you can do to speed up the whole system and does not have to cost a lot. You could buy a cheaper 32GB SSD cache drive and use that in conjunction with a SATA drive which will also give a good performance boost but at less cost. I play games, do music production and also do some CAD design, and loading, running and saving work is a hell of a lot faster. I have a 240GB Sandisk SSD as a main drive, a 1TB and a 500GB SATA drive. TBH I don't care too much about the boot up time but for fun I have just measure it.. On Win 7 its 25 seconds from the first windows logo appearing to the main screen. Another 7 seconds for the antivirus, firewall and the tray items to load and the PC able to be used. Not sure if that's fast but fine for what I want.
  23. If its just to test the build then use a live Linux disk or USB stick. Opps, just noticed post 2..
  24. Seems like the URL is faulty in some way. Click on "Search for "Znamya (space mirror" in existing articles." Then click on the first link.
  25. Russia has already tried it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Znamya_(space_mirror)
