  1. We're having a loft conversion and need a flu liner fitting to the chimney to pass building regs so am looking for quotes for installation of a stainless steel flu liner. We have a solid fuel stove which we've had for 2 years but there's cuurently no flu in the chimney. The house has scaffolding up as the loft conversion is happening at the moment so there is access to the chimney. The installer must be HETAS registered to comply with building regs. Also we'd like it fitting as soon as possible. Hopefully someone can help. Thanks
  2. went to Sabine Little in Bolsterstone. Went with my sister and spent from 10 till 4 in her little workshop. Cost £100 each including lunch in the pub across the road. Included lots of demo's and loads and loads of just trying things out.
  3. fantastic - made about 17 beads during the day with different designs and colours. Ordered all the stuff and going to get started myself.
  4. Thanks everyone - I'm off on a glass bead making course on Wednesday - yippeee - hope I'm not useless at it!
  5. thanks everyone - i've now got this sorted from your recommendations.
  6. I'm really keen to develop a new skill and am trying to find classes/workshops on how to make glass beads, jewellery or textiles/sewing type things in Sheffield. I'm keen to take part on these courses/workshops relatively soon as I'm expecting a baby in November so would like to start my new hobby before then!!! Any help with good courses or workshops (1 day or over a few days or weeks) would be most appreciated. Thanks
  7. We're planning on converting the loft of our 3 bed semi into a bedroom possibly with ensuite if we can afford it. The roof needs raising as the head height isn't great and the gable end needs building up. I've had 1 architect come round and quote £850 to do survey, drawings, submit for planning approval and building regs and am just wondering if I could get a better price as every penny saved could help us afford an ensuite as well. So any recommendations for architects or numbers or quotes would be most appreciated. Thanks
  8. We're having plans drawn up for a loft conversion to our 3 bed semi in Crosspool and are now looking for quotes or recommendations of builders to do the conversion. The plans, which will be ready for looking at next week, include lifting the roof, building up the gable end, constructing a dormer - to create a bedroom, possibly with ensuite if we can afford it. We have quite a tight time scale as I'm expecting a baby on 9th November so are keen that all the work is completed before then. Obviously planning permission with take 6-8 weeks. Any recommendations or numbers of people who might quote would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  9. I've instructed an architect to draw up plans for a loft conversion of our 3 bed semi in Crosspool and am now looking for quotes. The plans involve lifting the roof, building up the gable end and constructing a dormer across the back of the house. We would like to create a bedroom in the loft possibly with ensuite if we can afford it. The plans should be ready for submission for planning permission and for people quoting to look at by next week. We have quite a tight time scale as I'm expecting a baby on 9th November so really want all the work finishing before then. Obviously planning permission to raise the roof will take a 6-8wks. Any numbers or recommendations for quotes would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
