  1. Police are investigating a report of a shooting at City Rd, Sheffield which occurred at approximately 0230 hrs 26/5/13. No one has been injured and a forensic examination of the scene has taken place. It is believed to be a targetted attack, however the motive is unknown. There are a number of detectives investigating this incident and reassuarnce patrols will be taking place. Anyone with any information is asked to contact South Yorkshire Police on telephone number 101 quoting inc 212 of 26/05/13. Thanks
  2. On behalf of South Yorkshire Police I would just like to say a big thank you to everybody who contacted us with possible sightings on the two missing 14 year old girsl from South Sheffield yesterday. Thanks to the medium of social media they have been found safe and well in Barnsley.
  3. Hello There are no road closures on Shoreham Street so you should be able to get your car out. However, you will want to avoid Bramall Lane direction. Thanks
  4. Hello, there are barriers in place on Bramall Lane and the side streets. Are you wanting to go out on foot or in a car?
  5. Hello, all Police Officers working today are on cancelled rest days so no overtime is being incurred. We do have one serial of staff from West Yorkshire Police assisting us. Thanks
  6. This is the official thread for South Yorkshire Police steel city derby Sunday 16th October 2011. Any requests for information relating to the match or information will be responded to on this thread. Thank you. Inspector Jayne Forrest.
  7. Today's rally has passed without incident. Peaceful protest has prevailed, all City Centre roads are open and the City is moving freely. No arrests made in relation to the rally. Thank you to all who attended.
  8. You are welcome, thank you for your positive feedback. Minimal disruption expected tomorrow.
  9. Road closures for Sheffield day of action tomorrow in the city centre - 1100/1500 Barkers Pool. 1200/1400 Pinstone St (Leopold St to Cross Burgess St), Leopole St, Norfolk St, Furnival Gate, The Moor, Fitzwilloaim Gate, Charter Row (Fitzwilliam Gate to Rockingham St), Rockingham St (Charter Row to Division St) and Division St (Rockingham St to Barkers Pool). The above closure times are the absolute maximum - the roads will only be closed long enough for the rally to pass through. SYP do not anticipate much disruption in the City Centre at all. South Yorkshire Police absolutely respects the rights of people to peacefully protest.
  10. The official route for the rally is Barkers Pool, Pinstone Street, Union Street, The Morr, Charter Row, Rockingham Street, Division Street. There may be some road closures for a short time and I will post these as soon as they have been finalised. South Yorkshire Police are keen to engage with communities via as many means as possible. The aim of this thread is to provide information on any potential disruptions in the City in a 'no surprises' approach to Policing this event.
  11. On Thursday 30th June 2011 there is going to be a national day of action where public sector workers are planning to strike and rally. This will include a rally in Sheffield. The purpose of this thread is to provide information on the planned style of policing and public safety information including any anticipated disruption in Sheffield city centre due to road closures. Live time information also available on Twitter - @InspJForrest. Thank you.
  12. Thank you Mr Vader! It's a really good point you make about making sure Police vehicles can safely get to incidents as quickly as possible and yes I'm sure ten minutes must seem like an incredibly long time. The other way to help the Police is to communicate any information you may have to the first Officers on the scene. Fast, accurate information is vital in an emergency. Otherwise, become a first aider perhaps? Regards Inspector Jayne Johnson
