Jose asked me to reply by saying that as we live in Cornwall it would be difficult to arrange a reunion from 375 miles away. Sorry about this but sure you will understand. Jose

Royal Hallamshire Praise for the NHS
arrodbo replied to arrodbo's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
MEANT TO SAY 1 WEEK ON EACH WARD (must be the bump) -
Had a nasty fall causing fracture of skull, ambulance arrived under 4 minutes, into Hallamshire critical unit cannot recall first 4 days, spent 2weeks on K floor then N floor and further 2 weeks in Sheffield relations house. The treatment was beyond belief and the nurses/doctors were incredible. My first time ever in hospital with a serious life threatening injury and my heartfelt thanks go to the staff including everyone. Off South next week to our home with great memories of a proper NHS hospital.Thankyou.

Yes Susie1 I went to the Park cinema,Lomas Hall and never missed Tuesdays at the Memo, me and about 7 mates always went to the memo in suit and tie to "bop" with the girls. I remember the cups an saucers (pyrex) in the smugglers. -

Susie1 I went around the same time as you to the smugglers plus the speedway plus club 60 most saturdays. I was born in 45 so a bit older than you. Bunny was a pal of the "infamous" Keith Littlewood" who would fight anyone. I don't think he had a bike accident i think he was born with the limp etc. -
Remember the trips to cleethorpes and the fish & chip tea, Was the fun fair called Wonderland or something similar. It was the nearest a lot of us got to see the sea in the years following the war 1950s.

Been left Sheffield 46 years and the last time I was there I noticed a very old sign on the side of a house between bottom of Parkside Rd and Winster Rd. Its fading now but you can still make out PALINS, it was the newsagents where I used to get the morning Telegraph from in the 50s and 60s Anyone remember it?

First Buses are a total shambles
arrodbo replied to Surfin'Bird's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
I live in Cornwall and as an ex Sheffielder I read the Forum to keep up to date with things. First buses got the contract last year and the service is useless and non existant. We live in a village where a bus is supposed to arrive every 2 hours, well it fails on a daily basis. All the Cornish folk cannot believe the appalling "service" so it must be a Nationwide crap operation.. -
