  1. Can't wait. Look forward to seeing you at the Town Hall on 29 March. ---------- Post added 20-03-2014 at 19:36 ---------- Hope you're going to be at the Town Hall, not City Hall, otherwise we might all go thirsty. Look forward to seeing you there
  2. The armed forces and veterans event on 22 June is both organised and funded by the Council. Check out the council website link on the home page to find out details. Also informations on the website of the work that's done throughout the year to support the Armed Forces. You can also add your own contribution and pledge support on the website. Visit to Council stall that will be on Fargate from 11am until 4pm on the day.
  3. what happens if the finder loses the item and the owner turns up? The finder could be responsible for replacing the item. It's a lot of burden to put on someone really. Let's say the ring was an expensive one, worth £5,000. Imagine losing that and then suddenly the owner turns up wanting their ring back. It's going to get messy. Wow I'm glad I didn't think about this when I found it otherwise I would never have picked it up! Popped into the nearest bar and explained the find so they could direct anyone to the police. With it being close to a bar I too imagined a big argument followed by a dramatic ring throwing, however could easily have just slipped off.
  4. Thanks no1. It's obviously been replaced by the finders keepers law. Although I suppose we are still obliged to report the find, 14 days doesn't seem very long for recovery though.
  5. I'd be happy to meet with David and personally hand it back to him. Just ask him to call me
  6. I found a ring today and tried to hand it into the police. They don't accept items now so gave the ring back to me and will contact me if anyone reports the ring as lost within the next 14 days. After that it's removed from the system and becomes my property. Please pass the word on and if you know of anyone who this might belong to ask them to contact the police on 2202020. You'll notice I've been careful not to give any description so blaggers need not waste their time. It's a very distinctive design and I hope the owner sees this message and is able to recover their property.
