It is an absolutely healthy and lively fish that deserves a great owner who is experienced in keeping a Siamese Fighting Fish. I want this fish to have great owner who truly enjoys keeping one. Time Scale: Only when a good new home is found. Sale Amount: Free, but please describe how you are going to properly care for it. Location: Sheffield, S10, off Fulwood Road. Approximate size now and full grown size: 5-6 cm from mouth to tail. Minimum fish tank size needed: 10 gallon tank (37 litres) for more. Any Current health problems: Healthy, young, with no sign of fin rot or health condition. Compatibility with other fish: Can live in a large tank with hiding places with other big fish or larger. Temperature range: Water temperature between 23 and 28 degree C. Tropical: Tropical water. Contact info: Please call 07794645367 to discuss this further. Thank you.
  2. Visited this Revere/Marston's PLC-managed restaurant yesterday, and we found the food to be mediocre (both mains and desserts) and overpriced. The portion were a little small for the asking price. The worst were the staffs who were rude and appeared unhappy to be there, which was a real shame because the makeover was executed rather nicely. I'm afraid there are much better pubs in Ranmoor and restaurants in Broomhill and along Ecclesall Road. On the plus side, it offers convenient parking, and a leafy surrounding if that's important to you, but for me, I wouldn't recommend this place.
  3. I am in S10 and the powers went off and came back on a few times on Friday afternoon and evening.
  4. I was with a really nice instructor named Louise, 07947 962921 She's quite flexible with her lesson time so I think weekend wouldn't be a problem for her. Started lesson with her mid-August this year, and passed my practical on 1 October (when other instructors said this cannot be done). She uses a diesel, manual car, very easy to drive. She's very patient, friendly and familiar with local test routes. Can't recommend her enough.
  5. Hi everyone, Many thanks for your suggestions and comments. My driving standard is still of course left to be desired, hence I have been paying someone to help me. I was trying my hardest, but driving is probably not my biggest strength. I won't give up on this, as no one in my family drives, and we will need a car soon. Anyway, since Monday, I have been contacting a few instructors about doing a block of 10 additional hours. I have also changed the driving test date till late August. You guys may laugh at this, but I want to pass first time. Perhaps I should have told you this. I have been driving over the past 8 years, using my licence from another country. I have always driven an automatic because I was taught in an automatic. Over the years, had no problem whatsoever on the road here in the UK, or US, or Australia (rented vehicle, insurance paid by the number of hired days). But driving on a manual requires a bit of re-learning. Anyway, I pick things up from here and hope for the best. Thanks. ---------- Post added 09-07-2013 at 14:43 ---------- I have heard many positive things about them here, but sadly I wouldn't be able to go back to them.
  6. Hi there, Could you advice me on what i should do next? My practical driving test is booked for next Friday (7 days from now). Today I had my what was supposed to be my penultimate 1.5-hour driving lesson with my instructor. We were planning another lesson next Thursday before heading to the test centre of Friday next week. In the first 45 minutes, I made a mistake by trying to move the vehicle off in the wrong gear. The car stalled, then I quickly re-start the engine and drove off. I also drove in a 40-mph zone, doing ~38 mph in the 3rd gear. Another mistake I made was to use the 1st gear whilst crossing a roundabout. On these two occasions, the car was still progressing normally. My instructor was not pleased at all, and this wasn't the first time. He had raised his voice and said unpleasant things countless times during the past 17.5 hours I had lessons with him. Needless to say, I feel pretty rotten every time after those lessons. Anyway, 45 minutes into the lesson, he asked me to stop on the roadside. Requested that he take over the wheel, then he said he felt that I wasn't ready for the test, and he did not want to have any more lessons with me. This came as a shock to me, but I remained quiet. He drove us back without delay, and said on our way back that I was causing excessive damage to his car, and my bad driving would cause £1000 worth of repair costs. He also mentioned that my driving was consuming too much fuel, and for £20 per hour, it was no longer worthwhile for him to instruct me because he feared further damage to his car. He gave me a £30 refund for next Thursday lesson that will no longer take place. I remained polite, but I was sad beyond words. Anyway, I felt more confident than before, and I thought I had been making gradual improvements over the months. Such confidence may be misguided though, as I may not be the best judge. But I am now considering what should be done next. Should I: 1. Cancel/change my driving test? 2. Hire a manual car, and practice on it for 4-5 day, and use the hired car for the driving test? 3. Borrow a car from a friend, buy a learner's insurance under my name, and use that for the driving test? 4. If I chose 3. or 4., do I still need to get someone with a full driving licence to be in the car with me when I drive to the test centre? 5. Or will there be any driving instructor out there who's willing to take on from here, and hopefully he/she would be able to give me as much help as possible over the next 7 days? Please give me your advice on this unfortunate situation. Thanks.
  7. Thank you for your replies. I have read each and every single one of them, and taken many useful advice on board. It seems reassuring that this is decent area, except perhaps the Richmond Park area. I don't have a particular reason to live in Handsworth, but I am seriously considering buying a house in The Gateway (developed by Barratt Homes). Is there any reason not to get a house here? I was also wondering if the undeveloped area where the railway line runs through, separating Catcliffe and Handsworth, is actually a greenbelt keeping Sheffield and Rotherham urban areas from sprawling?
  8. I am seriously looking to buy my first house close to ASDA in Handsworth. I don’t own a car, so I need to take bus 52 to get to the City Centre and to work. I am not so familiar with the eastern suburbs of Sheffield, particularly this area. So I would like to hear your impression / experience / opinion of the Handsworth area (S13). Has the area improved somewhat in decent years? Anything to note about the crime level in that area? Any good school? Any road congestion problem around ASDA, Sheffield Parkway roundabout during the morning peak hour? Any new project coming up in that area (like a new retail park, supermarket, or other infrastructure project)? I have looked around the Darnall area and I personally didn’t like it, hence I have looked further outwards and Handsworth seemed pretty decent. I really want to find out as much about the area as possible to make sure that this isn’t a silly investment. Thanks for sharing.
  9. Got home safely last night at ~3:30 am. Took a train to Derby. Night bus from Derby to Chesterfield. Walked from Chesterfield to Meadowhead Roundabout via Dronfield. Finally took a cab home from there. Spent about £12.50 in total. Coming home never feels so good. Thanks to everyone for your help.
  10. I am in a really desperate situation here. Please help. I'm now on a train from London to Derby. Missed the last train to Sheffield. I am hoping that there may be a 1% chance that someone here or know someone who might be able to provide me a lift from Derby (train station; 2326h onwards) or from East Midland Parkway (train station; near junction 24; 2311h onwards) back to Sheffield tonight (Saturday 11/02/2012)? I have enquired and there is no more coaches, or buses back to Sheffield, and the train will resume service to Sheffield tomorrow after 9 am. I really want to avoid sleep rough in the cold. I am willing to help pay for the cost fuel. Thank you.
  11. I was running in Bingham Park / Endcliffe Park on Tuesday 27/09/11 p.m. with a group of young runners. You had 2 large dogs playing by the stream (close to Westwoood Road) which runs through the parks. One of your dogs darted in my direction and collided with me head on. I fell and rolled on the ground, so was your dog. (Time: 1838h) Other than some scrapes, I'm alright. So I after telling you that I was okay, I tried to catch up with other runners. I regret that I did not spend some time to check with you that the dog was okay. It was probably hurt too, and I am really sorry. If you are the owner of the dog, please let me know if it is doing okay and had suffered no major injury.
  12. callippo, you are right about Thaialnd receiving way more visitors from Asia than Western countries. I have seen the 8% figure before, but the 12% I quoted earlier also includes indirect income from tourism that are usually under-reported, such as sale of food and alcohol, transport services, construction, renting of properties, retail sales and civil aviation activities which would otherwise not occur in the absence of tourism. The figures may vary depending on how you look at it, and how one feels that an inclusion or exclusion of certain criteria will lead to a more accurate reflection of income derived from tourism. But the more you include, the higher the danger of double counting, so some economists prefer to do away with this altogether (and settle with the 8% figure), although most still acknowledge that these indirect income are clearly generated by tourism, and they are useful in the formation of a more accurate picture of the tourism industry. Anyway, what I intended to say is the same as calliope, that is the proportion of income from tourism in Thailand is much, much less than the general perception in the West. Thailand's real economic muscle is in the manufacturing of mid-grade consumer products (check out those Sony and Nikon DSLRs and the HHD in your computer), and also in the food industry.
  13. It is a myth that Thailand's main income is tourism... that only accounts for ~12% of the country's GDP. It is manufacturing, agriculture and the service industry which each outstrips income from tourism. Just the retail industry alone in Thailand is far larger than tourism. As calliope said, Thailand does NOT depend on tourism, it is just an industry which is more labour intensive and is more spread out around the country. When the present King passes away, the privy council will assemble and offer advice on the next monarch, based on royal tradition, and the parliament may also be consulted. Traditionally, and this is public knowledge in Thailand, it is the eldest son (Prince Vajiralongkorn) and the eldest daughter (Princess Sirindhorn) who are designated as the first to the throne, one of whom will then be crowned as 'Rama X'.
