  1. There's one for Reading (I know this 'cos i should be moving near there) that looks fairly active. This is a great forum though.
  2. Depends if you're just selling, or buying again as well and also depends on the value of the house. We're just selling and our quote is for ~£500 (including all charges and VAT). Had similar quotes from 2 others solicitors.
  3. Sheffield is great, and is very friendly. But London does not represent all of the South. London is a grumpy impersonal city as compared with the rest of the country. Parts of the South West, like Bristol and Bath are pretty friendly too.
  4. Have no idea about price, quality etc, but I know that Purple Monkey in Crookesmoor (near the dram shop) does that kind of stuff. http://www.purplemonkeystore.com/about_us.php
  5. Do you know why you're getting an infection? My girlfriend gets white gunk appearing in the crevices at the back of her throat when she eats a lot of dairy stuff - especially blue cheese. Which is a shame, 'cos she love the stuff. Maybe try cutting out dairy for a week, and see if it makes a difference?
  6. Does anyone know about gas inspections? I'm about to start selling my house in Walkley. We have a gas fire and gas boiler. Is there any legal requirement for me to get the checked / serviced, or would it just provide the buyer with peace of mind? Any idea how much it would cost to get it all checked and who can do that kind of thing? I tried googling it these questions, but to no avail. The good people of Sheffield are much better anyway!
  7. I think you're talking about the Shaolin Kung Fu masters show (Chinese). It's on the back of loads of busses and stuff.
  8. Pipex are very good in terms of no downtime. 2 years with no problems for me.
  9. Well we've already started for ourselves a big list going of things to do. Kelham Island museum and Abbeydale industrial hamlet are on it. And we'll definitely be adding "stock up on Hendo's" to it. Not sure the missus will like the Brookhill street girl bit, but I'll see if i can get it on the list without her noticing. The forum is already on my favourites and Meadowhell sucks donkey balls. Thanks so far. Keep the suggestions coming.
  10. I have lived in this fair city for three years now, and loved every moment of it. It has become home. Sadly, job, family and friends dictate that I must leave this wonderous place for fields new. If I could take Sheffield with me I would. However, rather than looking at this as a sad thing, I see it as an opportunity. Too often we take our surroundings for granted. I have one month left to milk Sheffield for all it's worth and I intend to. So, I'd like your help please. What things MUST I do in the next month? What can no-one who has lived in Sheffield miss out on? What things do I need to experience before I leave? Help me out.
