They move on.... Hillsborough see at least two drug drop offs daily, reported to the police and it's ongoing, same places every day. -

darylslinn replied to Annie Bynnol's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
The last EMR 125 runs on Thursday (13th) on a St Pancras to Leicester and return special. Cross Country still have a few sets running, I saw two within an hour passing through Sheffield on Friday. -
Tinsley Marshalling Yard - Whats happening with it?
darylslinn replied to jackthedog's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
An area of the old marshalling yard was in use as a temporary container terminal before Christmas as the one at Rotherham Masbrough was having some work done. They'd cleared the cutting below what used to be the depot, put up some generator powered lighting and unloaded containers there.... is that the same area that will be put into use or is it the other end of the yard ? I do lose my North / South bearings around there. -
A6178 Attercliffe Road Traffic Improvements
darylslinn replied to Michael_N's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
Surely an injection of money and investment in the area will come if lorries and cars are able to access the area pretty easily ? -
And the photo was taken in Scarborough outside the Stephen Joseph Theatre.

A6178 Attercliffe Road Traffic Improvements
darylslinn replied to Michael_N's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
The issue I have is how many people use this route to cycle or walk through and how many people are they expecting. It's an awful run down area and is sometimes not safe to drive through never mind walk or cycle through. Where does the cycle / walking route lead to, Meadowhall again. Now if this was proposed along the London Road and Abbeydale Road corridor where people actually live then it would make more economical sense. -

Not so much as an email stating a delivery had been made !

Hermes delivered a parcel to me, no notification where it was left.... I found it by pure accident in my recycling bin two days after delivery. What a joke, they must be a really cheap delivery service or the people they employ just do not care.

Know anything about Richards cutlers?
darylslinn replied to sue_bix's topic in Sheffield History & Expats
My mum worked at Rodgers and Wostenholm down on Guernsey Road too before moving to Richards. -
Narrowing the lanes at the end to put an extra lane in and reducing the speed limit to 50.... the main problem with that end of the Parkway is the lack of filter lanes on and off the Northbound M1 and the timing of the traffic lights. It looks and sounds OK but by all accounts looks a cheap option on a heavily used junction and road. if this project had have been down South then the whole junction would have been rebuilt instead of trying to squeeze and extra lane in either and making it tighter.

30th Anniversary Year Of The Arena
darylslinn replied to Arena Mole's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
Space for one.... the concourse is narrow, the arena bowl compared to Leeds is too elongated especially if you are right at the back, acoustics are terrible..... .... food and drink on offer are inferior to say the O2 in London, very poor quality at a premium price, chaos on exit from the car park... no real system in place for exiting in different directions... too many steps.... newer arenas and stadiums for that matter have an outer concourse with escalators to most levels.... It's just very dated now after 30 years.... they've knocked down and rebuilt ones in the States that aren't as old as ours.... of the big Arenas in this country only Wembley (1934) and Birmingham's NEC (1983) are older. -
Do they still make blades ?

30th Anniversary Year Of The Arena
darylslinn replied to Arena Mole's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
Thirty years old and it's showing it's age i'm afraid.... other younger Arenas around the World have been replaced, ours will be struggling on for another 20 years. SCT need to get their act together and appoint a company / agency who will bring the acts back when it reopens. -
And in today's Star... Barnsley is a City ! ALDI OPENS BRAND NEW CITY STORE in Barnsley !

I don't cycle either of those routes and to be honest having driven the Sheffield Road route many, many times I don't think I would want to cycle that route... agree with all of the above Bargepole23. The good thing is though the road is wide enough I believe to take a segregated cycle lane as long as they do something about the trucks outside Newell's. As for the canal path in the dark, i'd be in the canal !
