  1. The Wisewood pub is the nearest to you are now does food. Walking distance.
  2. A friend of mine has just told me it's the last day for the banks to change old £20 notes. Has this been in the news , I didn't know they were going out of circulation. The banks have been very secretive about this and we're told "if you have any , you must apply to the Bank of England to get them changed".
  3. I can't believe this, do the police know all the backup traffic they caused on Hillsborough and Holme Lane? I was amongst all that and no one knew what was going on, they thought there might have been an accident on Penistone Road. Do they have to do these things at the rush hour.
  4. Hi Duffems I've been looking through the paperwork of the ancesters which one of the family has researched and it looks like Thomas was the brother of my ex husbands grandad. I did have some printout of the family and the adopted boy but I can't seem to find it. I'm trying to find the site where I got the print out from. I did send you a second PM but I will try again.
  5. I remember waiting outside the Unity with friend and asking someone to " take us in", if it was an A film. Image doing that today with a complete stranger. I can't remember the sweet [spice ] shop across the road from the Unity but I remember the one on the same side on the corner of Wood Street I think. McConnickies.
  6. Just been to Locke Fyne AGAIN, I love it. I think it's the only fish restaurant in Sheffield that sells " proper" fish and shellfish. ps Is the bottle of house wine offer still on?
  7. I agree with you there, what's all the fuss about Harry Ramsdens. I've had much better and cheaper elsewhere.
  8. It was" leaked " before the elections.
  9. The rest did NOT vote Labour. Also Labour had intended to put VAT up too by as much as 30%.
  10. Two of my brothers were in the Fulwood Cottage homes in about 1939-40, it's only in the past 5 years that one of them said he was abused. I didn't like to question him about it so he never mentioned it again.
  11. The people who are doing the most complaining are the ones on benefit and credits, some are genuine but the majority are not. This country couldn't carry on like it was . If you worked hard and tried hard to bring up your family you got nothing in return, those who couldn't care less and never paid a penny into the pot got everything. So what's fair about that Labour madness? It was all to do with getting the votes of people who can't think for themselves. even the immigrants are told to vote Labour when they arrive in the country. I hope Brown [or Blair] never shows his face again after all the damage that has been done to this country.
  12. I did PM you but I'm new to this site so I hope I did it correctly.
  13. Martin Johnson on Hillsborough do all of that. Like I said they're very thorough.
  14. Was it? I thought it was the same place . Comments welcome. Age destroys the brain, so does booze.
  15. No they didn't, they were all wagging it.
  16. Where do you live? you're posh, we just have an hairnet.
  17. Martin Johnsons on Hillsborough. Very friendly and very thougher.
  18. I thought you said [ at least three times] that you were not going to comment on here anymore?
  19. I hate it especially when some say " you guys " and they happen to be female. Also some [not me] are spelling the American way, colour is spelt colour not color, there's plenty more spelling examples. Has anyone noticed that somefolk are also putting the date like the Americans , the date of the month before the day eg: 2 -5-60 to the Americans would be 5th of February 1960 but to us it's 2nd of May 1960. Who are these people who are confusing things, don't they know which side of the water they were born?
  20. You haven't hit a brick wall here. Your father was adopted by one of the Greatbatchs from Crookes. I will find out as much as I can and come back to you on this. I'm a family member. Watch this space.
  21. It's a good job they didn't meet up on the same night. But in them days I think footballers and fans were a bit more civilized.
