  1. Google 'Cheap Bulgarian holidays'. This might help?
  2. Thank you for agreeing with me that posters are indeed resorting to political smears.
  3. I would agree with donuticus but add that perhaps another reason why Sheffield was chosen was because last February (when the decision was made to come to Sheffield) there was an expectation that the Lib Dems might have 2 Sheffield MPs and possibly because the spring conference would provide a springboard for the Lib Dems to cement their hold on Sheffield in the forthcoming local elections. How times have changed though. The Lib Dems failed to win a second Sheffield parliamentary seat. The recent and nearby Barnsley Central parliamentary by-election saw the Lib Dems slip from 2nd to 6th place with an almost unprecedented lost deposit. Nick Clegg is now perceived to have sold out on his political values for the title of Deputy Prime Minister and in the process gone from being king-maker before the general election to being Cameron's tea-maker.
  4. What utterly ridiculous accusations. Neither of you have any evidence to support your claims of "Labour agitators ... rioting on the doorstep" because your claims are simply false and just political smears.
  5. The Lib Dem spring conference in Sheffield was announced in February last year. The cost of policing it comes entirely from the South Yorkshire Police Authority budget. There is no gaurantee that the government will agree to meet any or the full amount of the costs - which are coming out of police budget reserves. 6. No suggestions for a name, but can I suggest you use lower case when typing (as upper case is regarded as SHOUTING!). Welcome to the forum by the way.
  7. Do you think Prince Andrew has done a lot of good for Britain? No. His so-called ambassadorial role for the UK is an embarrassment. Entertaining discredited Arab leaders, having a friendship with a convicted American paedophile, receiving a massage from a 17yr old American juvenile (and photographed with his arm clasped around her waist) are just a few of his latest gaffes. Prince Andrew is well known for playing golf and his apparent necessity to fly - at taxpayers expense - to various golf courses. He is a redundant royal looking for a so-called public role to justify his payments from the annual Parliamentary Annuity.
  8. In the past 4 weeks I have visited the following pubs - The Roos Arms, Roos, East Yorkshire (twice) The Half Moon, Elloughton, East Yorkshire (twice) The White Horse, Woolley Moor, Derbyshire (once) The Crown & Anchor, Kilnsea, East Yorkshire (once)
  9. 1991 Census England and Wales There were 354 prosecutions of which 342 were recorded as being successful. Our records from this time do not refer specifically to whether or not a person was found ‘guilty’. 2001 Census England and Wales There were 39 prosecutions of which 38 resulted in a guilty verdict. 10. Mine arrived today as well. It's easy peasy (though I should add that's maybe because I live alone- so no extra boxes to complete). I've completed mine. I will post it after Sun 27 March though.
  11. I'll know more in the morning for sure, As I walk through my doctor's front door, I'll keep you posted with news Of the medical views, Of what's wrong with my throat and my jaw!
  12. I just want the doctor to see, My lumps and sore throat and agree, That I can't play my bugle - (But I've just looked at Google, And found what's the matter with me!) Now I know what it is, what's my lot - I've got an inflamed epiglot! It sounds worse than thrombosis - It's infectious mononucleosis! It's the kissing disease that I've got! Most folk catch it when they are a child, And when they do so it's often quite mild, But at my time of life, Gladular fever ain't rife! So if that's what I've got I feel riled!
  13. Hooray! 53 posts before someone mentions my favourite sweets .... Aniseed balls! Absolutely!
  14. The Labour candidate was not, as you erroneously claim, "parachuted in". He was selected by the Barnsley Central Labour Party members as their candidate to fight the seat. He was up against several local party members - and all of them had been short listed for consideration by the Barnsley Central Labour Party members. If anyone had been parachuted in to fight the seat, it was Carmen, the defeated Lib Dem candidate. The bile that he has now spewed out after his humiliating defeat not only exposes the contempt in which he holds some Barnsley folk but how unfit he was to be the Lib Dem parliamentary by-election candidate.
  15. Though my throat is still covered in lumps, The doc says it is not now mumps, Though heavens above, I tell you, my love, It's right got me down in the dumps! Have I mentioned the spot on my nose? And the problem I've got with my toes? And for goodness sake, I've now got a headache, I'm just full of ill health and the woes! I'm just feeling so down and so black, Did I tell you about my bad back? And the cualiflower ear? Oh! I'm beginning to fear - That I'm just a hypochondriac!
  16. Sorry Mis_S_83, I don't have any further details.
  17. You will find your answer here: http://www.sheffield.gov.uk/your-city-council/council-meetings/cabinet/agendas-2011/agenda-9th-march-2011 Scroll down the page and click on the third download "8. De-commisioning of Register office ceremony rooms". The council's Cabinet committee meet on Wed 09 March to consider this item and make a decision on the report.

  19. [ Well, the defeated Lib Dem candidate in Barnsley spoke to plenty of people, and this, in his own words, is what he said.... "In towns like Barnsley, where the Lib Dems once harvested votes as a party of protest, they now attract derision as a party of government. Some Barnsley citizens view yellow rosettes as worse then blue ones. Lib Dems are the enablers and facilitators of what they see as a purely Tory government, not a Coalition of two parties."
  20. I think you need to await George Osborne's budget to see if this is a serious proposal!
  21. As this thread and poll is mainly about independents standing for council in May, I think you should have avoided any confusion by declaring that you will be standing for the Lib Dem party. Presumeably you can't be missed because you'll also be wearing an orange rosette? Declaration: redrobbo is a Labour City Councillor and will be seeking re-election in May. Back on topic: Independent candidates have an uphill struggle to not only get their election literature printed and distributed, but also to meet sufficient voters to encourage them to vote Independent. This in no way should deter Independent candidates, but I think it is insufficient just to have your name and 'Independent' on a ballot paper. But to distribute approx 8,000 election leaflets is no mean feat!
  22. Bit more than £15 for 'bulk waste' .... http://www.sheffield.gov.uk/environment/waste/bincollections/bulkycollections#bulky NB The figure of £38.54 is out of date, and it is now just over £39. But you do get 10 household items for that price.
  23. Oh dear espadrille. Despite you being a member of the Lib Dem Party, you appear not to know that your own party leader, Nick Clegg, is the co-author of the "controversial Orange Book". Here's a link. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/7187287.stm I suggest you read it in order to avoid making yet another of your familiar gaffes.
  24. I think the UKIP 2nd place can be put down to disaffected Tory voters. But what explanation can you offer for the disasterous result of the Lib Dems dropping to 6th place and a lost deposit? How come they have lost so much support? Could it be that the voters now no longer trust the Lib Dems after Clegg's U-turn on tuition fees, amongst other things? What's your take on this Lib Dem slide towards near-oblivion?
  25. Are you seriously suggesting that the Lib Dems were expecting to be kicked by the electors - to the extent that they dropped from 2nd place to 6th place and in the process lose their deposit (and all in the space of 10 months since the general election)? This is not only a severe kicking for the Lib Dems but a humiliating defeat for them (who, remember, even dropped below the fascist BNP in the vote). I suspect this result is a portent of things to come when the local elections take place in nine weeks time.
