  1. BOKWA is the new group exercise programme that has taken the UK by storm. ….. and now Activity Sheffield is bringing it to Sheffield. This addictive cardio dance workout energises participants to perform dance moves based on the alphabet and numbers. If you can move and you can spell you can BOKWA!!   2. Hi Jon, Unfortunately this session is currently not being run by us. The only current jogging session we have at present is at Graves Park on Thursday Evening's from 18:00, costing £1.50. If you like, I can have a word with the Community Activity Leader for the Millhouses area to see if they are aware of anything being run by others? Thanks
  3. Are you interested in having a kick around? We have a fantastic new session starting for adults. Every Monday from 11 February @ Newfield School - on the astroturf around the back of the school. Open to all abilities, male and female. 7.00 pm - 8.00 pm. Just £1.50 per person.
  4. Brand new multi activities session starting at The Chantrey Centre on Matthews Lane for adults. It is going to start on Friday 18 January 2013, 1.30pm – 2.30pm and costs just £1.50. Each week you will have the option of what activities you would like to try, from hockey to badminton, parachute games to new age kurling.   5. Wrap Up and Run 10k - Spread the Warmth was launched in response to the needless deaths of more than 200 older people per day in the cold weather. The aim is to stop unnecessary suffering and preventable winter deaths. Why not help the cause by running the 10k at Graves Park on 24 February 2013. For more info about the event please log onto http://www.ageuk.org.uk/get-involved/events-and-challenges/10k-races/ If you want to get in some training before the event why not become a Graves Park Jogger? All abilities are welcome, you can walk, jog or run. We meet every Thursday (starting back on 17 January), 6pm – 7pm at the Charles Ashmore entrance of Graves Park, your first session is FREE, so why not bring a friend.

  7. Hi Activity Sheffield have a variety of activities for older people that may be of interest to you, including Badminton, exercise sessions, health walks and chairobics. These sessions are starting again throughout January in different areas of Sheffield.   9. January is coming up fast! New fitness regime planned? Jogging in the cold, wet and dark? Why not try something different? Starting on 15th January 2013 will be a ladies only session @ Silverdale School. The session has a twist though - you get to choose the activities and the name of the group. Please click on the Facebook link below to send in your suggestions. Some of the activities already mentioned by keen ladies have included hockey, netball, cricket, basketball, Zumba, circuits and more! Better than the gym don't you think?
  10. Hi Ian, We run a Zumba class every Thursday at Hackenthorpe Community Centre, from 6.30 pm - 7.30 pm. It costs £3.50 and no booking is required.   12. Hi, Adult activities at St Columba Church, S10 5PL Come along to our adults session, that can include chair based exercise, Curling and Boccia. The activities are aimed at helping adults to be more active and helps you in your daily routines. It is every Thursday 11.00 am - 12.00 noon and costs £2.00

  15. Friends of Newfield Update Here’s a date for your 2013 diary…….! Saturday 9th March; Community Netball Festival and Family Fun Day !!! Friends of Newfield Parents Group, staff and students of Newfield School and Activity Sheffield would like to invite you to this great community event!!! - fun netball tournaments for all age groups (8+ to adult) and abilities - plenty of sporty activities for younger brothers and sisters and non-netballers - hot food and refreshments - 12 to 3pm - enjoying the wonderful facilities up at Newfield School! You can enter the tournament as a team ( please ring Activity Sheffield 01142734266 to register ), or if you don’t have a team, just turn up on the day. We will ask adult netballers for a £2 entrance fee (all proceeds to charity) but entrance for everyone else is FREE! If you’ve not played netball for a while and would like to improve your confidence, come along to your friendly local Meersbrook Netball Club;- 7-8pm every Wednesday at Meersbrook Park, where for £2 a session you get coaching, a game of netball and lots of fun!   16. Hi All, Fantastic new football session for 11-16 year old's starting at Birley Secondary School on 27/11/2012. All abilities welcome. The session will take place in the sports hall at 4pm - 5pm. This is a free weekly session, and children just need to turn up on the day.

  18. Hi, Have been advised that the session will hopefully start in January 2013 at Meersbrook Park, as we have got quite a bit of interest being shown for a Ladies Only Football session. If you know of anybody else who is interested please ask them to get in touch so we can confirm the demand
