  1. worked at greeting card house with jaqueline barretl loved it also used to take cards homke to do th ribbon the front got paid one penny per card the building id not there i dont think it was on button lane
  2. bertha pearson lived in normanton springs woodhouse,miss linacre was really old with tight grey stockings used to frighten you to death in sewing about getting your fingers trapped under the needle of the sewing machine it took me a year to make a blouse sghe kept making me unpick my stitches if they were too big
  3. i also remember the ovaltineys sitting in a cosy room with mum and dad
  4. my brother peter eastwood worked at george barlows he loved painting houses until barlows got a job with industrial firm shardlows painting the factory with heavy red paint my brother hated just slopping this horrible paint on his lovely white overalls he threw them away in the end
  5. my mum and dad and family lived in charlotte road ,my husband and my brother both worked for yorkshire water i remember my dad talking about alan baxter ronnie mitchell my dad moved to swallownest depot where the co-op is now my husband lived in swallownest and was working at the depot .he used to dig trenches and come home covered in mud
  6. i went to manor baptist ,two brothers and i used to walk every sunday from stradbroke across to prince of wales road and walk back again ,i remember sister ruth and mr wells superintenant lovely man he worked for weights and measures dept at whit sunday we went in the parade up to manor top and down to norton church for the whit sing and then walk back to stradbroke lovely memories
  7. i lived on ravenscroft rd when it was first built .went to stradbroke junior for about two months then to brook school all the teachers were new used to call in turners shop for penny arrows and horlicks tablets .we used to wash jam jars out and take them back to the shop and get pennies for them because rationing was still on
  8. my dad worked on sheffield corporation waterworks for 40years he worked from edmund road depot .all the houses down charlotte road were occupied by water works workers the manager always lived in the top house next to the main entrance to the depot
  9. iwent to see arthur haynes at the lyceum went to stage door after the show and got his autograph he put my name on one side of the page and to my sister in law on the other side of the page .won a competition with the the star and met bert weedon ,the mudlarks at the victoria hotel
  10. anyone worked at marks and spencer 1965 to 1970 i remember pete who worked in the warehouse .second floor in fargate:)
  11. i had a new knee joint four years ago, and it is more painful now than before ive been to pain management clinic i bought a tens machine nothing. dr put me on neurontin nothing do all these cures work on a metal knee joint
  12. the name of the picture house was the plaza cinema i was a regular there
  13. we have not seen the walking man for ages ,he used to walk down the new bypass road at one time if you have seen him please let us know.
