  1. I didn't know about the marsden's dairy.would they be the people who had a milk bar in the 60s ,near the town hall on either pinstone street or norfolk street? I presume also that they are the same people with the catering business, also on sandygate road? My mom always said that she was related to the marsdens,who ran the milk bar. I have done her family history but not found any relation with the marsdens. What a shame,i thought i might get a free pint or mr whippy! Sorry we digrest, six45ive and i was really commenting about what elmambo said.
  2. I have an old ornance survey map produced by alan godfrey of 1903 fulwood and ranmoor. On this it gives a bit of history of the area and states; the site of the model dairy and sandygate plantation had once been a pleasure ground.it was laid out by the miller ,george hawke woollen. Who had the rivelin corn mill. On the pleasue ground he built a castellated place 'the roundabout'. So maybe it was originally deemed to be rapuntzal's castle!
