  1. It was a similar thing at the Walnut Club - very disappointing. We had carpaccio of venison (three tiny slices - a little larger than a 50p piece each), lobster thermidor (the lobster was around the size of a large prawn - think I had three pieces of lobster) and a chocolate tasting plate (little more than a 2cm x2cm piece of brownie, a tablespoon of chocolate ice cream and a couple of teaspoons of chocolate mousse). For £45 a head you'd expect to come out satisfied at the very least but I was still really hungry. The service was pretty dire too - the restaurant was half full, it was a set menu and the wait staff just couldn't seem to cope! It was the first time I'd eaten out on Valentine's Day - and it will certainly be the last if this is the norm!
  2. Any place that sells Office Products sells them - try Business Supplies Direct in Sheffield, Tanyards Stationers in Rotherham. Carson's on West Street will be able to get hold of them on a next day basis.
  3. I'm part exing my car tomorrow and have just remembered that I have a bluetooth handsfree kit wired into my stereo. I obviously don't want the dealer to get their hands on it and would like it removing. Does anyone know of a company that can remove it for me tonight or tomorrow morning. Thanks Donna
  4. The Milestone at Kelham Island - amazing food, brilliant atmosphere and the service is fantastic. I love spending lazy Sunday afternoons there!
  5. Greenaways isn't open anymore but the two therapists that used to work there now work at a place in Nether Edge (I'm pretty sure it's on Kenwood Road). I see Shirley and she is fab! I definitely recommend it, it makes you feel brilliant afterwards!
  6. There used to be a Baxters newsagents there but it shut down a few weeks ago suggesting that they weren't making any money. I personally liked having a newsagent so close to work as it meant a shorter trip to get my fix of Heat on a Tuesday!
  7. Just rang Butlers on Brook Hill for my regular Saturday night curry only to be told that they've been robbed so couldn't deliver. I'm not sure if they were opening for people who were happy to sit in. So anyone that fancies one of their amazing chicken baltis is a bit out of luck tonight.
  8. I recieved a phonecall the day before Christmas Eve last year, from someone who claimed to be from Hammerton Road police station, informing me that my husband had been found dead - he was actually sat right next to me! Some people are sick with nothing better to do then to upset people!
  9. I've just got back from a roadtrip in California. We flew into San Francisco, then drove to Santa Cruz, Monterey, San Luis Obispo, Santa Maria, Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Diego then back to Los Angeles. We did the trip in two weeks and we able to stay for a night or two in each city. We had a convertible (which only cost us around £200 for the two weeks). I definitely recommend driving it, we stumbled accross places that we wouldn't have otherwise. I bought a North American map for my Tom Tom (which was an absolute godsend - simple things like programming where to find the nearest petrol station saved our bacon a couple of times!). Next year we're planning an East Coast/West Coast trip to see a bit more of America - we had a fabulous time, I'd recommend it to anyone! Donna
  10. My intention wasn't to dumb down the argument, just to prove that the perspex screen doesn't mean that anyone, male or female is safe in a hackney carriage (which incidentally don't have seatbelts). A few of you seem to think that I was more bothered about losing my food than being hurt... this wasn't the case at all. If you'd seen my face on Saturday morning you wouldn't be claiming that I hadn't suffered 'real harm'... and whilst I'm not comparing my situation in any way to someone being raped or murdered.... as I came away with a split lip and a humongous bruise on my cheek I was hardly unscathed.
  11. Read this if you think this makes anyone (male or female) safe... http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=280107&page=3
  12. I wouldn't trust black cabs either. Me and my friend flagged one down on Division Street on Friday night/Saturday morning. We'd just been to Murdochs to get some chips after too much Pinot Grigio, the taxi driver asked us not to eat and we agreed but some way into the trip my stomach got the better of me and I sneaked one out of the box. The taxi driver then sped up to a stupid speed before slamming on the breaks. It was totally unexpected so me and my friend both went flying like ragdolls into the divider between the front and back of the cap. We've both now got split lips and I have a bruise on my cheek and chin as our faces took the full impact. Okay I shouldn't have sneaked a chip but he could have just kicked us out rather than smashing our faces up. I think I'd rather walk from now on.
  13. hi... this may sound rather stalkerish but I'm desperately trying to find Chantelle who used to be the colourist at Hair Kandi on Eccesall Road. I tried to arrange an appointment with her in September only to be told she'd left the salon. They said she hadn't moved on to another hairdressers but had decided to take some time out. Since then I've had my hair done twice at another salon in town but it doesn't look half as good as when Chantelle used to do it!! Please please please can someone tell me that she's still working, either in another salon or on a mobile basis. If you know her can you tell her that my hair has been in dire straights since she looked after me and she has to help me out so I look as sparkling as possible for the festive season. Thanks Hair disaster in Hillsborough! xxxx
  14. Hi does anyone know of a decent take away in S6. I'm starving and don't have any menus. Pizzas, burgers and kebabs would be great Thanks
  15. I know I'll have so much leftover food after tomorrow and really can't face eating turkey until New Years Eve. Does anyone know of any homeless shelters in Sheffield that would welcome the food? I'd hate to throw it away if it would be useful to anyone.
