  1. http://www.karatesheffield.org.uk Now taking on new members at Wadsley church hall. Worrall Rd Sheffield 6 See website for details
  2. http://www.karatesheffield.org.uk is a club that separates kids from adults due to the learning pace and class content. Have a look at the website. We have a range of students that are 40plus and have been around for some time. I would also reply that the Sam Jones club is a good club if you are thinking of going there. A good friend of mine attends there. Good Luck!

  6. Hi Connor, A couple of years ago A member of staff from the University taught Karate in the Edge at very realistic rates. I know that there was a request this year placed by a member of staff to introduce Martial arts to students on site. Why dont you take it up with the Mentoring team. Why not also ask at the Edge reception regarding martial arts! This would enable you to invite groups to the Edge like Chefkicker and his organisation. There is also the give it a go scheme available to students. Bob hague of the Sheffield Shotokan is well known for taking on visiting students and training them in his community club at Carlton rd and also at the private Dojo at very little cost. he has also in the past has taught to small groups of students and mentors in the private Dojo . Look him up on http://www.karatesheffield.org.uk Good Luck !
  7. There were three in the school at the same time leaving one after the other over a few years.
  8. There are family discounts at the Sheffield Shotokan with 2 children or more attending. Each child beginner also gets a genuine free suit on joining. The instructors can be contacted on the website for any questions that you may need answering. http://www.karatesheffield.org.uk The club is fully kitted with all safety equipment with nothing to buy in the way of personal safety
  9. Blitz Try this on the Internet We use a good one bought from there in our dojo E mail me if yo find what your looking for and I will get you the club discount off the price! http://www.karatesheffield.org.uk
  10. The system Go Kan Ryu is a sylabus made up from bits two styles , Goju Ryu and shotokan. There are many threads on the Forum exposing them, They actually move from area to area and use a hard sell tactics often delivered by instructors and staff with very little experience. One representetive knocked on my door and was invited in only to find that he had only 7 weeks experience, and got the job from the job centre and worked on 100% commision. It is frustrating to the genuine clubs who are trying to acheive through their students, when they are faced with no intake of beginners to the club , due to these people already snatching potential students at source. The worst insult for the genuine Senseis is that they are tarred with the same brush! I have been around martial arts for 35 years and could not name a club instructor from Go Kan Ryu! http://www.karatesheffield.org.uk
  11. Sensei Byron Powel was a member of the Parsons cross club with Bob Hague/ Linvalle Douglas/ Ozzie Kenyan/good guys The club was a K.U.G.B. club with Sensei Enoeda as the U.K. Chief Instructor . The Sensei of the Dojo was a 19 stone man called John Rowlands who travelled from Leeds to teach the class on Sundays for four hour sessions, with a ten minute toilet break during. The Sensei loved a fight and would fight anyone. Thats where Sensei Byron powell got his grounding before moving on to becoming what he was. Sensei Byron was also a quiet and nice member of the club with great leg techniques and an accurate and hard hitter. As for dedication, Byron was due to grade in leeds and missed the coach, so he took a taxi and still made the grading, how many people would commit to that these days. The training in the 70s was serious and adequate for purpose. The conditioning in the traditional Dojos prepared you for conflict.
