  1. Yes Paul, give me a colour and I'll knit you a hat, let me have your address and I can post it onto you
  2. Hi yes that must be it. Would you mind posting me a copy if I give you my address. I will pay postage. Many thanks
  3. This is a long shot but I'll give it a try. Back in the eighties Atkinsons had their own knitting pattern for a top just knitted in two pieces with their value wool. I knitted a few tops and they were great. I don't have that pattern now and am just wondering if anyone may remember it and still have it.
  4. Thanks for the other link Hecate, I have always fancied a Moleskin but they always seem so expensive but seem much cheaper on Amazon. The pocket notebooks look ideal but may be a bit small for a journal and get filled quickly, do you find this? I don't want to end up buying them too regularly
  5. Hecate, thanks for the link, these pads look good, do you use them for journals? Are they hard wearing?
  6. Just wondering if anyone can recommend a sturdy notebook (preferably the reporters kind that you can flip over). I want to start using them for a journal that I carry around and get rid of the hardbacked books I use. I do some journalling on the laptop but still like to keep handwritten notes. I've tried the notepads in Smiths and Wilkos but they come apart in no time. Can anyone recommend anything a bit stronger?
  7. I have very fine thin hair which I've always had long but the past few years have just had it above shoulder length and always pinned it up as it looked damaged when down after highlights and straightening and the menopause making it even finer. So after debating and getting views from people I had my hair cut into a graduated bob a few weeks ago, at first it felt strange and I regretted it but after being told how much thicker it looks and less damaged I started to feel settled with it. However now I'm going through a stage of wanting the length back. I am 51 so should I stop hankering after long hair and just accept how it is?
  8. How much will this memory stick hold, will it hold quite a few scanned files?
  9. Hi, I am struggling with this and would like some advice. I want to know how to put a password on an external hard drive or memory stick or at least a folder. I know there is software you can download like Truecrypt but this seems to only protect the computer. I have some personal documents I want to keep on my external hard drive, I want it protected so that if anyone were to get hold of the hard drive they wouldn't be able to access the contents from any computer. I can only find how to password protect a Word document but not a full folder or a whole hard drive. Thank you for any help.
  10. Just wondering as I only used to use mine for phone calls and texts, now I use it for music, photos and a diary, whereas before I have always used a paper diary but I like how you can set reminders on the phone. Are mobiles taking over everything these days do you think?
  11. My intention was to scan one journal, save that into one document then start the next one but it cut out before I could save it.
  12. Hi, thanks for your reply. Actually its my personal journals I want to scan which is why I want to do it myself. The scanner I have is a printer/scanner/copier in one and I want to scan each separate journal into seperate documents but it cuts out after so long and I lose the whole lot, plus its a very slow and tedious job. The idea though is to digitalise the journals and get rid of the originals. More privacy and more space.
  13. Hi, does anyone know of anywhere in Sheffield where you can scan your own stuff? I have some personal stuff I want to scan and my own scanner doesn't seem up to the job at the moment. Any recs will be welcome. Thanks.
  14. I am having a clear out. I still keep a journal and am reluctant to get rid of the old ones (spanning the past ten years), I did think of the idea of scanning them into the computer but it would be such a huge task, does anyone know of any scanning services that will do this? Or is it best to just bite the bullet and keep storing them at home?
  15. As technology seems to be taking over these days, just wondering what people do with their 'physical stuff' so to speak. I have now got a Kindle and find it very handy, I also put my music on my laptop and my phone now and never play my CDs which I guess many others do, the thing is do you hang on to your paper books and CDs or dispose of them? Is technology meant to help you free up space? Although I love technology, I still like to keep a paper diary/journal, try as I might I can't get used to just relying on my phone for appointments and I still love the written word and have written journals going years back which I don't want to get rid of and I still love to journal by hand. Any views?
