  1. Thanks I was hoping they did adult classes as its just down the road from me. Do you know what days and times they run them?
  2. Hi all I was wondering if anyone knows of a masjid in pitsmoor that does Quran and arabic classes for adult sisters? Ive heard something about Masjid Umar but wasnt sure if it was just for the little ones? Im a complete beginner and need something once or twice a week to get me started Hope someone can help Thanks x
  3. Thanks everyone for your advice! It does seem a tricky situation, but not an impossible one it seems, I think I'll give the pound a call and see what they say and take it from there. I cant help but think of all those poor dogs desperate for a mum! I work at home so I'll be able to give it plenty of time and supervision and if I do go for it I'll definitely invest in a couple of baby gates and a crate before I start. I do feel a bit guilty though as my cat is a complete princess and insists on being number one, even with my husband! She hates him
  4. Hi I really want to rescue a dog from the pound rather than buying a pup, but Ive got an 8 year old cat and I'm worried it might try and kill her. I expect its most likely to be a staffy from the pound, are they OK with cats or am I heading for disaster? Is it worth the risk or should I just get a pup? Thanks Alex
  5. Yes I believe it is, Ive seen a few about. I had a lab collie cross when I was a kid and she was lovely. Now I'm getting a dog of my own I want the same mix
  6. Hi I'm looking for a female Labrador cross Border Collie puppy. If anyone knows of one ready or soon to be please let me know! Thanks Alex
  7. My house is over run with them! I was starting to think something had crawled in and died! Iv been searching all round the house since yesterday afternoon when they suddenly started appearing. I'm glad its not just me, but its creepy all the same! I'm guessing its something to do with the time of year and all that
  8. Hi I live in a rented end terrace house and my neighbors recently got an Alsatian dog which lives outside in their yard. Its pretty nasty so now we cant gain access through the back and have to take our smelly bins through the house which is horrible and embarrassing And to add to it our letter box is on the back so now we don't get our post either The family that live their are foreign and don't seem to understand much English. I asked my landlord about at least getting a letter box on the front but he just said it wasn't his problem. Does anyone know if I have a legal right to access through their garden for my bins? Thanks Alex
  9. Hiya I'm looking for a cheap house to rent and Ive seen 3 or 4 houses going on Popple Street, Page Hall. I cant help but notice the high turnover of tenants on this street as Ive looked for cheap houses a few times in the past couple of years and there have always been houses up for rent here. Can anyone tell me what the deal is with this street? I know that this area has a lot of immigrants and that doesn't concern me but as I'm pretty desperate for a house I could do with a bit off info. Thanks
  10. Hi I live in Hillsborough about two mins from TNT and have been wondering what its like and who goes there? Have they got any cardio stuff or is it just weights? Thanks Alex
  11. Hi all I went past the weir yesterday and thought how lovely and clean it looked Ive been off on my hols for two weeks and hadn't seen them clearing it. Aw how nice, all those little ducks and fishies happy again. I had another look this morning only to find someone had thrown a traffic cone in there already, typical Ah well, guess it will end up a tip again
  12. Hi Sarah There is Grenoside Equestrian Centre (used to be called Barnesgreen) on Halifax Road, you can get the 77 bus from town takes about half an hour. They're a good riding school, I worked there for a while a few years ago and one of my friends is an instructor. Hope that helps Alex
  13. Hi Shauna You can come and have a go whenever you like, a few of us are beginners too. We have started a new session down at the EIS on Fridays at 5.30 till 7, and will also be outside at Woodbourn Rd on Thursdays and Tuesdays at 6. We usually train on a Saturday morning too but might not be there this week as we have our first competition on Sunday, yay! Our first league match is on the 3rd of May, you will be very welcome to come and have a go at a competition. You don't need to have any experience as its all about having fun and getting a point or two for the team. I always end up doing javelin for the league which I cant do for toffee, but its always a laugh trying and I get a point for effort! Hope to see you soon Alex
  14. I was brought up on my nans rabbit stew, beef or chicken hash or 'ash as we called it with dumblings, or lots of bread mashed up in it instead of dumplings. Good old mushy peas, mash and gravy with most things lol Boiled pigs trotters and liver were offered but never accepted. Though I always found the trotters fascinating to look at but not to eat Was just thinking last night how much your childhood diet carries on to adult life, I was tucking in to a good old pork chop with mash, peas and gravy while my friend munched roasted veg with feta cheese, made me smile and remember the trips to the market with my nan to buy rabbit and trotters ahh Alex
  15. Hiya Yeah cause, I'm no spring chicken and certainly no whippet! We're a real mixed bunch from teens to fourties. Its just about having fun and enjoying it. You don't have to be any good, Im not great but I love it and thats whats important. Competitions are best, a fab day out and even better when you get to stand on the podium at the end of it Come along on Saturday morning and have a go, were at Woodbourn Road stadium from 10am till about 11.30 Hope to see you soon Alex
