  1. Should yeah, but lets face it you can't assume everyone knows the highway code. I think this thread proves that not everyone does lol
  2. It would be safe if people were expecting to be passed on the left, so they would be used to cheking their blind spot before moving left. Because of the way most people have learned to drive in the UK we tend to assume there won't be anyone coming up quickly on the left hand side.
  3. This is so true, while half the time people can simply forget to pull back over to the left and hence remain driving in the middle lane - the other half of the time people just simply haven't got a clue. You can flash you lights and they just sit there wondering what you have a problem with, sometimes they even slow down a bit. I still think flashing someone is safer than undertaking though. Always.
  4. Speaking of free software REAPER is free to try then really cheap to buy. You don't have to pirate music software. http://www.reaper.fm/
  5. This is totally true actually, good point. I think people just want to own the "next big thing"
  6. No I meant you could pay someone to do the postage or something while you do the listings. There are lots of jobless graphics designers though so I'm sure you could easily find someone to make the listings if you wanted.
  7. I really wouldn't recommend buying a mac. Yeah, they're nice and glittery and run Logic with sparkles all over it - but they are incredibly over-priced for what you get, they are nowhere near as future-proof as something you build yourself and you may find the range of software a bit limited as most music software is written for Windows then ported to OSX. For music production you need a computer with the following things... Fast processor - for realtime processing, running virtual instruments (like Reason synths) and effects. This is the most important thing RAM - For effects again (depending on the type). you'd want to get a lot of RAM anyway, though for music production it isn't as important as processor power Sound Card - Obviously. There are many makers of sound cards dedicated for music production, look at M-Audio Hard Drive - Often overlooked, but if you are recording with a microphone you'll want a quiet hard drive. you can get hard drives escpecially made to run quietly and still quickly. You should also think about backing up your music onto an external hard drive. A computer with an external SATA port may come in handy Monitor - Few things require a huge 24" monitor, but I think music production is one of those, you'll want a nice big screen to see everything on. That's it. Graphics are really not so important. Neither is the operating system. A cheapo Radeon 3000 series graphics card would easily be enough. If you build the computer yourself (which really isn't that difficult, there are many videos on YouTube where people explain how to put a computer together) you can get all of the above at top specs for the same price as a new mac - and you'll end up with a waaaay more usable computer.
  8. Have you though about getting someone to help you with the boring and long winded stuff? Everyone knows someone who is unemployed and would do boring stuff for a few hours a week for a bit of cash
  9. Yep. then the fifth G will come along and everyone will go nuts again.....
  10. It reminds me of when broadband first came out. It'll be exclusively for those few people that actually need super-fast internet on their phone and are willing to pay for it (I can't think why personally). After a couple of years it wil be cheaper and I'll get it then I reckon.
  11. Ah okay that's put my mind at ease then. I drove all the way home after that feeling like a mug for not noticing if they had changed the limit. I'm pretty sure I'll be fine now whatever it was cheers
  12. Haha nah it was definitely the camera. Maybe it was set wrong? Or my speedo is broke? Lol I hope its not the latter :S
  13. I just got flashed by that damned speed camera at the bottom of the parkway but I was only doing 35 - 38mph. Definitely NOT over 40 which I thought the limit was? Has it changed or something?
  14. Are you still looking for a room? We are moving to a new room and are looking for another band to share with if you fancy it.
  15. I'm sure they have....which brings me back to the original question...where could somebody buy such an effects unit for use on stage?
