  1. Thanks Everyone, We have got some one to do the job and to seal the bricks after with thomsons water repellent.
  2. Thanks to everyone who has posted. I will contact people directly for quotes.
  3. Thanks for that word of warning! Would want whoever I asked to do a sample size before continuing.
  4. Hi, We have just had old masonary paint sand blasted off the front and back of our 1900's end terrace and are now looking for quotes for repointing. I've been told by the blaster that he has heard of a couple of people in sheffield who do a really good job and that it costs £15-20 a square metre but didn't know company names. I would be grateful for any quotes and links to samples of work as I know that pointing is something that can be done badly and want someone to do a good neat job. Thanks
  5. I've just re-read my post above although the house is new to us it was built in around 1900, I don't know if that affects anything.
  6. We have just bought a new house. It's an end terrace brick built property with 2 windows (would have been sash) and a door on front elevation. We are looking for ball park figures for the following work: 1. Fix/Replace any loose/broken tiles on the roof and repair leadwork/flashings around chimney. Also replace wooden guttering on front and back of property. 2. Remove by sand blasting (or other means) the masonary paint on the front elevation. Repointing as neccessary after. 3. Ground floor front window at some point was made shorter and wider and a concrete lintel put in above to fill the gap. This needs removing and work doing to make the window dimensions match the original ones of the window on the 1st floor. 4. Replace 2 exterior doors (front one with a solid composite door and rear one with a uPVC door with glass panel). Also replace 5 windows with a minimum of 'c' rated energy efficient uPVC windows and replicate the stained glass design of one with high quality non trade windows. Welcome any feedback, thanks.
