Thanks everyone.
I am told that Jacomine Valle came over from Italy with a boys' orchestra, he didn't want to go home and so hid in a wood and later married the Gamekeeper's daughter. This story seems to have a bit of poetic licence but quite a romantic story. Quite why, a boys' orchestra would come to Lincolnshire in the 1800's seems a little strange.
This is fascinating, I've now got lots o fill in on my family tree.
My mum, 82 this year and born in 1928, remembers Granny West dying when she was around 7, so this all ties in.
Kind regards
That's great thanks. Really getting somewhere this morning. I have Italian ancestors somewhere but I think on my great grandmother's side as my gran was Doris Valle West, and this was an old family name. But I can now do more investigating. Thanks again
I have traced my great grandparents back and they lived in Court 1, Reginald Street which was Attercliffe/Brightside from at least 1901 to 1911 as they are on both these census'. Any advice on how to find her (Sarah Ann West) maiden name?
