  1. Apart from the Jobcentre and local government agencies who just give you a one way approach, what are the best places or people to turn to for a well balanced view on my CV and Covering Letters, and some advice on any re-structuring that may need doing please, thanks.
  2. What are the best and most compatible ones to go for that will work with all versions of windows, I have this one below and keep having problems with it like it keeps getting disconnected and windows 7 does not recognise it, very irritating especially when you are trying to open a file or edit a document then all of a sudden it disappears and a red cross pops up in the bottom corner saying device driver not found, even though everything in device manager is perfectly fine. http://www.lexar.com/products/lexar-jumpdrive-twistturn-usb-flash-drive?category=207 Would like it to be solid and rugged yet have some feature that protects the connector as well, cheers.
  3. Costa Coffee is now open, the new food area looks neat and tidy as well, I enjoyed a Caramel Latte in there yesterday which was very nice. Just got 2 more units left which I have been told are definitely going to be Subway and Hey Potato!
  4. Maximum Overdrive (1986) - From the master of horror Stephen King, we had a world that was recovering from a massive comet strike resulting in the fall out, causing all machines to come alive and cause havoc. The most scary one being a convoy of killer trucks lead by a very disturbing circus truck with a face on it and then proceeding to trap a few locals in a petrol station namely a very young Emilio Estevez, weird or what. Duel (TV 1971) - One of Steven Spielberg's first films, set before Jaws, this was basically a supernatural truck, hell bent on stalking and killing a cool Dennis Weaver, the set pieces alone were worth it. The final scene in particular looks just like Jaws but off a cliff with the same sound sample used in both films, the groaning sound effects during the shot of the carcass sinking are the same ones the truck makes as it crashes off a cliff in Spielberg's first film, Duel. The sound effect is from the original Creature from the Black Lagoon.
  5. Arachnophobia (1990) - Arachnophobia was very unsettling to watch, remember the first time I saw it at the cinema with school, there were 2 choices, The Little Mermaid or Arachnophobia, glad I chose the latter but that part at the end where he falls through the floor in the basement and all those spiders start falling on him, then that big mother spider rocks up and crawls up his leg, talk about being itchy afterwords. Also, that part in the jungle where is gets in his sleeping bag and also the part on the football field where it crawls in his helmet, creepy stuff, the most unsettling part for me was definitely when the house become invaded by them and the walls were covered in webs and dangling Tarantulas.
  6. I have been having the computer side on at 70% and the speakers just below half way.
  7. It is just going from the headphone out socket, nothing fancy.
  8. I have a good quality set of M-Audio AV 40 Monitor Speakers and am connecting them to the laptops headphone out socket, now there is one thing I want to know. Should I have windows volume set to maximum or half way to get a good computer to speaker power ratio, and also, how do I know if speakers are distorting and whether the output volume is too high or too low, because if it is set too low on the computer side then there is not enough sound going into the speaker so it is a tricky balance.
  9. The Last House on the Left (1972) - There is something disturbing about a gang of drug induced and psychotic convicts who infiltrate a house and then proceed to off people in the most degrading and embarrassing ways, like bullying a woman into ******* her pants before trying to kill her. Never seen The Human Centipede, Irreversible, Martyrs, Audition or I Spit On Your Grave.
  10. Must be these for me... The Descent (2005) - For those who are claustrophobic this will be a nightmare to watch. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974) - Something very disturbing about a family who butcher people and have all their body parts on show in the kitchen like some display cabinet, and the thought of a maniac wielding a chainsaw like a baseball bat is truly frightening. The Amityville Horror (1979) - Based on a true story, there is something genuinely horrific about a house which possesses a whole family into self destruction, and everyone who has lived in that house since has experienced similar paranormal activity. The Exorcist (1973) - Loosely based on real life events, this classic tells a simple story of possession, faith and a family in pain, very powerful stuff. Halloween II (1981) - A very worthy sequel in my view, another classic slasher film done well and those hospital death scenes are still very disturbing after all these years, a very dark film with a twisted variation on the John Carpenter theme. A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) - Something very scary about being scared to fall asleep and Wes Craven did not put a foot wrong in this, even that music fitted perfectly and Robert Englund was born to play the spectral child murderer Freddy Krueger. Wrong Turn (2003) - Something about cannibalistic mountain men that makes my skin crawl. Saw (2004) - Who would of thought the main villain would be the dead guy in the middle and how simple and suspenseful just one room and a countdown clock would be, and what a filthy set of sequels it spawned. Jaws (1975) - The only proper film in history which made people afraid to go in the water, something extremely terrifying about not knowing what is beneath and the sublime chemistry between Richard Dreyfuss, Roy Scheider and Robert Shaw was amazing, John Williams finished us all off with that iconic score, injecting fear into an entire culture today thinking of that music every time they see a shark.
  11. Elvis Aaron Presley to be exact, yes, he really did start a tidal wave of inspiring legends, mind you, if he would have carried on being a full time army solder we would never have had Grace Land or Blue Suede Shoes.
  12. Bryan Guy Adams Gary Barlow John Michael Stipe Paul David Hewson
  13. If we are talking base numbers then the largest number is 9, because every number is lower than that or a combination of numbers, when you go above 9 you reset back to zero and so the cycle starts again, unless you invent a number above 9 then the base numbers would be 10 digits not 9, so 10 would be 11.
  14. Without Freddie Mercury, Queen would not exist today, he was the real talent not the other ones.
  15. James Paul McCartney John Winston Lennon Philip David Charles Collins
  16. Going on my avatar, I will say Michael Joseph Jackson, a breathtaking hurricane of raw electricity and record breaking talent, life long hard work till his death and all round great humanitarian, rest in peace Michael, you were definitely a force of nature and a gift from above.
  17. Stuart Pearce has done a lot to gain players respects, he was one of the main engines behind the Euro 96 side and played as far back as Italia 90 so he definitely knows what passion is, but in terms of man management am not so sure, me thinks the FA when they meet tomorrow will do as they always do and rush things, make another expensive mistake. I think they should stick with Stuart Pearce through the Euros and let Harry Redknapp finish his season with Spurs, then make a fresh start with Harry while in the meantime Spurs can be looking for their own next manager, I think that is the best and sensible thing to do.
  18. What are your favourite indulgences that make a great cuppa. Mine is the following... Kenco Rich Douwe Egberts Pure Indulgence PG tips pure tea granules All with some nice fresh green top milk and 2 generous tea spoons of brown sugar.
  19. John Terry should also resign as an England player, he ultimately cost Fabio Capello his job with all this racism stuff, the vile turd needs his head kicking in the cheating racist scum.
  20. Would love it if Jose Mourinho got it, but getting him would be another expensive ordeal.
  21. Well, looks like Harry Redknapp may be the next England manager yet, was sure he could have kissed it goodbye if he was found guilty but hearing this news it looks like he is a front runner now.
  22. Looks like added pressure connected with Megaupload.com has closed it down. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/news/9064532/BTJunkie-shuts-down-as-Megaupload-arrests-put-pressure-on-filesharing.html I love their quote from the website... http://btjunkie.org/goodbye.html 2005 - 2012 This is the end of the line my friends. The decision does not come easy, but we've decided to voluntarily shut down. We've been fighting for years for your right to communicate, but it's time to move on. It's been an experience of a lifetime, we wish you all the best!
