I think it's the plinth...the trim thing that goes all along the bottom of the cupboards that sits on the floor. I've just tiled the floor and now the entire length of the trim thing needs a few mm off it all the way along. I've already tried a hand saw...and indeed, it looks like I've cut it with my teeth.

I need to cut a couple of mm off the length of my kitchen plinth. It's taking forever using a handsaw and plane, and the results are not very neat to say the least. Is there anywhere I can take it in Sheffield to get it cut down? I guess with the right tools (like a bench saw?) it'd only take two mins. Any ideas...?

Thanks for all the replies and messages. I'll be sorting it out later this week hopefully; there have been a few hiccups and my kitchen is taking longer to finish than anticipated.

Can anyone give me a rough idea how much it will cost to tile a kitchen? It's an area approx 4m2 in total between the worktop and the wall units, with a bit of a splashback behind the hob. I've got the tiles but not got grout/sticky stuff. Just wondering if I can afford to pay someone, or will end up having a go myself, so a rough idea of the cost of having it done professionally would be great.

I need to get from Sheffield (M1 junction 31) to Leeds university for 8.30am on Monday. Anyone do this communte and know how long it's taking at the moment with the weather being icy? I'm guessing the M1 is even slower than normal, and wonder what time I'd need to set off.
