  2. Aah thanks And there I was thinking that they were just getting 'one last ride' out of their helicopter before they had to give it away!
  3. Is that really what it was? The big Archer Road Sainsburys? The helicopter was circling over Nether Edge all evening, it was very noisy and annoying!
  4. Dogpages is a forum that specialises in rehiming dogs - both from rescues and also from owners wanting to re-home direct. There's also a section for 'homes offered' that you could add your details to. http://www.dogpages.org.uk/
  5. That doggiepubs website is missing lots that I know of - but you can add pubs, so it would be useful if we could all help to keep it more accurate? http://doggiepubs.org.uk/add_a_pub.php
  6. There is also this website: http://www.doggiepubs.org.uk/the_pubs.php?searchtown=S8&lat=53.3330347&long=-1.4673305000000028&view=list Some off the top of my head: Waggon & Horses (next to Millhouses Park) The Broadfield The Beauchief Hotel (just the downstairs bar, which also serves food) The Norfolk Arms, Ringinglow Road (although that'll be a fair old walk!)
  7. Aah that's great news, well done CollieBird
  8. Oh good! This is still my favourite place to eat
  9. No-one?! We would like one too - must be good at high-level windows as we have some bird poo stains on the upstairs windows.
  10. Gosh I'm really suprised about that - although they have just undergone a major refurbishment since then, which meant they were closed for a couple of weeks. I wonder if there's any connection? I think I will picture in my head that they now have a sparkling new pristine kitchen since that score regardless!
  11. I did call in at the bowling club, but for a lovely glass of Pimms! That's the one! Liberty Foods. Wow Sheffield Forum is the font of all knowledge, once again! Thanks for that xx
  12. It was a lovely day yesterday at the Nether Edge Farmers Market - we had a great time and great food It's a long shot but I'm wondering if someone could help me - I bought the most amazing pork pie & scotch egg at one of the stalls, but didn't pick up a flyer from the stall so have no way of contacting them to buy some more There were lots of pork pie stalls... but this was the one with the enormous giant ones - I bought a "fire roasted red pepper, chorizo & pork" one, and a smoked paprika scotch egg. I think the stall was quite near to Cafe #9. Does anybody know the name of the stall and if I can contact them?
  13. Sounds great - I think you meant to type http://www.zumbathonsheffield.co.uk
  14. We do that all the time! Hubby is always singing and puts Gadget's name in the lyrics - even when it makes no sense
  15. Yeah I think I'll give that a miss! 'Pat & Brian' isn't particularly unusual either :/
  16. Yep that's right, it was the last-but-one owners. There are no surnames written for either of the couples (in fact up until this year it only said c&m and p&b, so at least now I have actual names!) I will post a pic of the inside when I get back, good idea. The area Carol & Mike lived in was Heeley
  17. It's a very vague long shot I know, but worth a try! Every year we get a Christmas card for Carol & Mike (no surnames). They weren't the last people to live in our house so must have been at least 20 years ago... it's signed by Pat & Brian but no surnames or address, although it's post marked Sheffield. I just think it's sad that they have been bothering to send Christmas Cards every year for over 20 years, completely oblivious that their friends haven't lived there for ages! So I thought if there was any way at all possible to contact these people, it would be the Sheffield forum! Do you think we can re-unite these guys somehow?!
  18. The Riverside (Kelham Island) is very dog friendly. I wish more pubs in the city centre were though!
  19. Audiobooks are better for when you're walking home - less bumping into lamp posts! And on holiday while sunbathing It really makes a difference who's reading them though - if they have an annoying voice it's terrible. The Philip Pullman books are great as they have a whole cast reading out the different characters' parts. The hobbit was really good too.
  20. Aww I love Sheffield! Some random eccentric bloke... so many people know (roughly) who he is, and care whether he's OK or not. Makes you feel all safe & warm inside
  21. I've seen him still wearing his footie shorts when it's snowing outside!
  22. We've had a hedgehog appear in our garden twice recently. I was really surprised as I've never seen one in Sheffield before. Our dog was very excited and kept wanting to go outside to look at it! (he didn't touch it or bark at it though or get too near) Does anyone have any tips on how I can leave some food out without the dog or any nearby cats eating it instead? EDIT: I've just had a google and found this advice - will go home and make a hedgehog feeding station http://www.prickleshedgehogrescue.org.uk/information/faq/feeding-a-wild-hedgehog-in-your-garden/
  23. I found this video really interesting - I think all dog owners should be made to watch it to show them how stupid it is to leave a dog in a parked car: Veterinarian Sits In A Parked Car For 30 Minutes To Show What It Does To Your Pets (Don't worry, no dogs harmed)
  24. Excuses excuses! Just found this website: http://www.eatingchallenges.co.uk/street-food-chef-burrito-challenge/ Might be handy for looking into any other food challenges to be found too?
