  1. Does anyone know of Gerald, Can't remember surname, worked in the radio & TV dept at Rackhams late 70s and went on to manage same dept at Cockaynes/Schofields? Always immaculately dressed, ginger hair and beard. Think he lived in Ecclesall/Bents Green area.
  2. A refreshing change from your usual birds, very satisfying I'm sure......
  3. Hi Mike hope you are keeping ok. Alan was in contact briefly some time ago but not heard anything from him since, I got the impression all might not have been well and I have had no luck from my messages. Hope all is ok with him.
  4. Been a while since I tried this search. Lost touch with old mate Robert (Rab) Green some years ago. He would be 64 now, attended Bents Green school, worked at PCL components, lived at Gleadless, last heard of at Heeley. Brother Mark, sister Lesley (both younger) Anyone know of him?
  5. Dr's Sugden and O'donovan in the 1960s, Jaunty Lane Basegreen. O'donovan drank like a fish and smoked like a trooper. Could usually be found propping up the bar at Renishaw golf club. Both good doctors in their day.
  6. You're not the first to comment on how bad things were at BGS in the 40s/50s, such a shame as just a few years later in the mid/late 60s onwards it was a wonderful place. All the staff names mentioned had obviously left by then to be replaced by the most caring team imaginable. I left in 1974 but would have gladly stayed there! and most of the friends I remember would have too.
  7. I remember my sister going regularly to a cafe called 'The mustard seed'. Can anyone tell me exactly where it was?
  8. Anyone remember/know Jane? Lived Peterborough Rd? Lodge Moor, Worked at Walsh's in the 70s.
  9. However the signs are interpreted take great care, I spend a lot of time in Bakewell and the wardens are like vultures, any little misdemeanour and they'll have you.
  10. .............And it's where I bought my loons from too...red, purple, blue. and denim dungarees with parrots on the back pockets 🤣🤣
  11. Thanks for that. I've trawled the tinterweb for a phone number as I don't live in Sheff now, but drawn a blank. Be grateful if anyone else can find it and PM me. Thanks.
  12. I am still searching for any information regarding Linda and Peter Bolsover of Petre St area in the 1970s if anyone can help.
  13. Ray Banks had a branch of his Roadrunner records for a few years on Holme Lane if i remember correctly.
  14. My cousin Wendy Pigott also attended at the same time.
  15. I started there in 63, left in 66 to go elsewhere.
  16. And a few more! Pat Owen. Gordon Winnell. Michael Roberts. David Ellis. People have asked whether the school was for a specific condition. It quite possibly is these days but when I attended (66 - 74) it was a wide range of problems, not necessarily medical. I remember children from broken homes, troublesome kids, Asthmatic like myself, children from other similar schools which had closed down, there was even one boy i remember who upon about to be caned at his former school, took the cane from the teacher, snapped it and handed it back to him! (he was 6'2" at age 16!)
