There is already a large thread on here named ' How do I get free solar panels?'. To get them from 'A shade greener' your roof MUST be facing south with no obstructions. I have got them and cannot praise the company highly enough, however I think everything to be said is already on the previous thread.

There is another thread running titled 'Remember trunk calls ?'

Hi, Does anyone remember Greg and Ian(?) who ran the Old Harrow disco back in the 70s? I played in a band with Greg for a short while. Last time I saw him was years ago, he had a architectural antiques business in the old buildings opposite the queens head on Pond St and I think Ian(?) had an antique shop in Chesterfield, his surname will come to me as soon as I post the thread!. Greg had a good singing voice in the Bob Seger style.

Sorry Jack, missed that bit. Good news that, especially that it gets used by Blades fans! Although I'm watching them at the moment and it's like watching paint dry. Come on lads. -

Mulberry tavern, I used to work next door at Walsh's so it was a bit too handy! One of the lads from Walsh's went to run it for a while - Brian Titterton(?) anybody any idea what happened to him? Also while on the subject there was a busy little corner pub on a back street behind PCL at the bottom of Arundel gate, anybody remember its name and does it still exist? -

Thanks for your reply Maggie. I don't know who actually found out about John but it was mentioned at the reunion. I think Pam Nicholson may know more , she is on friends reunited. It was a reasonable turnout considering people are spread far and wide, Dave Hinchliffe, Mike Morris, Carole Higgins and her sister, Susan Tame, Glyn Mitchell, Pam, and a few from before even my time!!, Brenda Seddon also came but she has since been quite Ill, Pam keeps in touch with her.We will arrange another one next year when the school re-opens. It was prize giving day when we had the reunion and the head invited us to present the prizes - what a strange but lovely feeling that was!!. Mike. -

Hi Maggie, I was trying to guess which Maggie you were! I could remember yourself, Maggie Shakespeare and Maggie Hornsby. I'm Mike Spencer, Don't know if you remember me. We had a reunion a couple of years ago and Pam was there. She is still in touch with Diane, I remember you and Diane were always together. What are you up to these days? Hope life has been good for you. Not sure if it's true but the word is that John Anderson died a little while ago, very sad. Mike. -

Yep, just had it confirmed that Jessie was Neil's sister. Brenda Seddon had a huge envelope full of photos of pupils going back donkeys years, I just hope that they have survived the rebuild and not been chucked by some wally. -

First pub you went in and how old
mike-s replied to JACK HEWITT's topic in Sheffield History & Expats
Mine was the hammer & pincers at Ringinglow. 3 of us nipped in from school at lunchtime aged 15, served us no trouble so there we are sat down with three lovely pints in front of us, What we did'nt know was that it was also a couple of the teachers favourite haunts, Ken Fallows and David Heward. They strolled over and simply said " I think you three had better get back to school"!, No more was said about it! Proper teachers. -

Does she have the brown (preventer) inhaler as well? Mine is called 'Qvar' and I use it morning and evening and never have to use the blue one now. -
Sheffield corner shops past and present.
mike-s replied to muchtoofair's topic in Sheffield History & Expats
As a child in the 60s I regularly used to fetch groceries for mum from Giles corner shop on white lane at the back of the old harrow pub, a jennel down the side of the shop led to our road. The shop had various vending machines on the wall outside including a couple of cigarette machines selling packets of 5!. White lane was incredibly quiet in those days - a far cry from the madness today. The shop was in a row called 'selig parade' - It wasn't until a few years ago I realised it spelled Giles backwards!!.
