  1. Hi Gillian, I started the year before you left, just as the 'new' school was being built. You have now visited the 'new, new' school!! the 'old' one lasting all of around 40 odd years. Although I no longer live in Sheffield I try and visit as often as possible to eat in the 'Hidden Gem' cafe which is housed in the old changing rooms around the back, it serves wonderful food. I called in to the school last year but there is no one left that even remembers any of the staff from our days, it was all rather sad.
  2. The Devonshire was my late dads favourite pub and one which I also frequented regularly in my teens when Tom and Jean ran it. Remember spending hours on the swing in the beer garden as a kid. Lovely couple, proper pub.
  3. Totally dominated 1st half, then after going 2 up reverted back to the old days of switching off and paid for it. I felt Hendo pulled out of the challenge for their goal, probably for fear of getting injured and being down to zero keepers!
  4. No, he would be around 10-15 years older.
  5. Long shot. I am looking to find a Mark Smith, he would have been in his 20s in the 1970s and I would have thought he would have possibly gone into the art/teaching profession. His father was called Francis and was also a teacher, they lived at Dobbin Hill. Anyone know of him?
  6. Doing a little research into the late actress Susan Littler. Does anyone know which street in Sheffield she lived, schooling etc? Lovely actress, sadly passed away at such a young age.
  7. That's a shame, thanks to all for trying anyway.
  8. In 1971/72 I was the sole winner one particular week of the 'Blades bingo'. Does anyone have copies of the programmes from this time they could look through to find which issue it was, so I could then order a copy from ebay perhaps? Bit vague only knowing the year(s) but even that's pretty good for me these days! It would read M Spencer, £100 winner. Lot of money in those days, went straight to the Castle market for a 'Harrington' jacket!! Still do it now but can't seem to get past a tenner, happy to support the Blades though.
  9. Further to the above, Ray back in hospital again, was hoping to be a couple of days but keeping him in. I will relay news as i get it.
  10. I know he'll bol**ck me for saying this but but Ray (Banks) has been very ill recently, nearly lost him a few weeks ago, he's much better than he was but its a long haul. I know there are people around that remember Ray and although he hates the attention i know you would wish him well, so sod the old bugger!! Get well soon mate.
  11. Could be the one i went to school with. Did she have a sister called Jeanette?
  12. Linda and Peter Bolsover, lived Petre St area in the 70s, anybody know of them? Would be early 60s age now.
  13. Mick, was it Phil (?) used to run the London Rd shop? what happened to him?
  14. Oh yeah, Hi Mick, think we've spoken on here before. Any idea what happened to Pete?
  15. I took Pete's job at Condor when he left. I thought he went to Sharp but must be mistaken, it was a long time ago!
  16. I was a sales rep in the late 70s/80s in the Hi Fi industry covering the north of England. A few other reps who also lived in Sheffield at the same time were; Pete Fox (Sharp electronics) Steve Holton (Bose) Barry Hyde (Decca) Steve Hopkins (Meridian) (Recently traced to the south coast!) Anyone know of them?
  17. Further to my earlier post, a few more names from the early 70s come to mind; Paul Pearce Martin Hughes Linda Chan Sylvia Roberts Margaret Hornsby Harry Toft Theresa Naughton Stephen Fish Susan Tame Steven Gresham Ken Taylor Selma Mgrath (?)
  18. Hi Alan, yes its me! I was hoping you would have attended the reunion we had a few years ago, Carol was there too. I'm sure you left BGS at the same time as me along with Carol, Diane Jubb, Pam Nicholson etc which was 1974. I visited the new school a couple of months ago, sadly there is no one left now who even remembers any of the staff from our days, Mr Heward was the last one to leave. PM me if you prefer. Mike.
  19. Just recalling some of the people I worked with on the radio & TV dept 1974-78 Denis Brown Tony Mills Phil O'Neil Chris Kroukamp John (Alex) Bremner John Llewellyn Geoff Mallory Marcus Hogan Joan Rands Andrew Graham ..........And others my old memory won't recall!
  20. Ann & Alan Lane, formerly of Dyche Lane Coal aston, then Hornsea East Yorks. Would be deceased now but I believe they had a daughter called Jacqueline? Long shot , does anyone remember them?
  21. My beautiful sister passed away last weekend. Barbara was born blind, and if that wasn't bad enough for a 22 year old new mum and dad in the 1940s ,she then contracted polio at the age of three, which robbed her of the use of her legs. Despite this she went on to be a clever, funny, fiercely independent woman, married Tony, her late husband, who was also blind, and they had two wonderful children and four grandchildren. Barbara was diagnosed with cancer some two years ago and proclaimed that she had had a 'good life' so didn't want treatment, but cruelly succumbed to a stroke last week. I never once heard her complain about anything throughout her life, she took every day as it came. Barbara had thirteen operations on her eyes as a child, all to no avail. but still wished she had had another, because thirteen was 'unlucky'. I am writing this on the chance that are people who remember Barbara, perhaps from the evenings at the Mustard seed, or the Mappin Street meets. I will miss her to bits.
  22. How many do you want and whereabouts are you?
  23. Looking for Jane, a workmate from the 70s, We worked at Walsh's department store and if memory serves me correctly she lived on Peterborough Drive/Rd Lodge Moor. I remember she married so not sure what her surname would be now.
