  2. However the signs are interpreted take great care, I spend a lot of time in Bakewell and the wardens are like vultures, any little misdemeanour and they'll have you.
  3. .............And it's where I bought my loons from too...red, purple, blue. and denim dungarees with parrots on the back pockets 🤣🤣
  4. Thanks for that. I've trawled the tinterweb for a phone number as I don't live in Sheff now, but drawn a blank. Be grateful if anyone else can find it and PM me. Thanks.
  5. I am still searching for any information regarding Linda and Peter Bolsover of Petre St area in the 1970s if anyone can help.
  6. Ray Banks had a branch of his Roadrunner records for a few years on Holme Lane if i remember correctly.
  7. My cousin Wendy Pigott also attended at the same time.
  8. I started there in 63, left in 66 to go elsewhere.
  9. And a few more! Pat Owen. Gordon Winnell. Michael Roberts. David Ellis. People have asked whether the school was for a specific condition. It quite possibly is these days but when I attended (66 - 74) it was a wide range of problems, not necessarily medical. I remember children from broken homes, troublesome kids, Asthmatic like myself, children from other similar schools which had closed down, there was even one boy i remember who upon about to be caned at his former school, took the cane from the teacher, snapped it and handed it back to him! (he was 6'2" at age 16!)

  17. Just resurrecting this thread...DOMINO 71, sorry i've just noticed your message, if you're still on the forum let me know and i will PM you. SYLVIA001, I noticed you went to Bents Green school, did you have long blonde hair and was there from around 1966 onward?
  18. Hi KC. How long did your Simca last before being recycled into baked bean cans? Seem to remember the rust began to show through on dads within months!
  19. My late sister spent a considerable amount of time in Lodge Moor due to polio in the late 1940s, this horrible disease robbed her of the use of her legs. Sadly she was also born blind, cruel world sometimes.
  20. Seems a coincidence, didn't know whether to believe a word he said, strange guy.
  21. I didn't attend Silverdale, but Bents Green due to health reasons. A few years ago we held a reunion and a chap called 'Paul Benson' attended, no one can remember this guy and a few of the things he said just didn't ring true, his dad's 'chauffeur' used to bring him to school in his Rolls apparently (?!) and he said he is now a millionaire 'lord' and lives in Switzerland, drives a Ferrari etc etc. He didn't seem to remember much about the school, although the rest of us obviously did, it was all very strange. Just made me wonder if he was a bit mixed up and perhaps attended Silverdale?? Does the name ring any bells with anyone? He would be perhaps late 50s, early 60s now.
  22. I probably knew what he meant, well i was from Basegreen after all.......😉
  23. Does anyone remember a Doreen Butler? late 60s possibly, although I may have the wrong school!
