  1. Does seem a bit odd that you can put something on a menu that's totally false, it obviously wouldn't be right to advertise a halloumi burger that was actually made out of chicken or tofu for example. I'm sure I remember cases in the past of takeaways getting in to trouble for advertising lamb curries that were actually made with cheaper meat. If I were to eat somewhere like this I'd want to know what the 'beef' etc was actually made from. The food looks nice in the pictures anyway!
  2. The sewage plant at Deepcar is moving to opposite the More Hall turnoff - where the 'Stocksbridge no 2' (snigger) sign is. I presume the water works currently ongoing at Deepcar are related to either that move or the new estate, or both. And yes the new road is basically the entrance for the new estate.
  3. The new road is near the temp lights, going down to the new bridge. Temp lights are for water works that are due to end 1st september - https://www.yorkshirewater.com/extra-services/in-your-area/
  4. Lots of nice bits in Stocksbridge/Deepcar! I lived in Stocky for 10 years and now still live quite close and come in to Stocksbridge regularly. There are decent facilities nearby - leisure centre with swimming pools, several gyms, shops/cafes/restaurants/takeaways, good access to countryside walks. Fox Valley is a good asset to the area. Good access to the M1. Public transport in to town isn't too bad - you can get the SL bus or drive to Middlewood park and ride then take the tram in to town/meadowhall. There are a few housing developments recently built or about to be built in the area. I would say it's an area on the up overall. Only thing I'd check on really is the schools. I think for younger kids there are some good options but I'm not sure the high school is all that great.
  5. I had huge trouble finding an electrician, not for lack of them but just because they didn't want a difficult job in an old house. A lot just seem to want to work on new builds, commercial stuff and the like. Loads of them would promise to call back or turn up to quote and then just not bother as well, no honesty at all, very frustrating. Got lucky in the end and got a guy in who was great (and under 55!), and got our re-wire done eventually.
  6. Honestly I'd be wary of saying much as I'm happy with everything in my life right now and wouldn't want to risk changing anything by mistake! I'd probably say at most 'don't worry, it gets better - way better!!'
  7. Only 'creepy' thing I've ever experienced was sleep paralysis. I was asleep and then 'woke' to see an enormous tarantula (about the size of a Labrador) crouched on the bed next to me. It was completely and utterly real in that moment, but I couldn't move. Absolutely horrifying and terrifying. As soon as I could move again I was up and across the room turning the lights on in about a nanosecond. Weird thing was, when I went back over to the bed there was actually a small spider in the covers, but I have no idea how I could have seen it whilst asleep. Very strange!
  8. There's loads of dog rescues around full of dogs needing homes. They'll charge an adoption fee, but then if you can't afford the fee you can't afford to look after a dog. The advantage of using a decent rescue is the dog will be health checked and temperament tested so you have more of an idea of what you're getting and whether it's suitable for you. Someone randomly giving a dog away for free to a stranger isn't exactly forced to be honest about things, or it could be full of worms and fleas!
  9. Our lurcher, like most lurchers, is the same! Soft as anything with my own two cats, but if you're a stranger cat or a rabbit or rat.... you're in trouble!!! Not so much use for rats in a confined space though as a smaller terrier. I do think the advantage of a dog over poison is rats can't really develop a resistance to having their back broken, plus they die very quickly with little suffering.
  10. Just out of interest, what's up with the P&R facilities? I use Middlewood and think it's really good - loads of spaces and reasonable pricing.
  11. I think it's odd that 'wiring/changing a plug' is often cited when talking about practical abilities as if it's some every day household task.... surely this hasn't been the case since 1952 or some other distant decade?? I've very occasionally had to swap the fuse but that's the extent of it.
  12. Sainsbury's Tu range have some larger sized jeans and they're reasonable quality/price
  13. Agreed, I think most people would just be glad the whole mess was over as most, remainers and leavers, are just sick of it all.
  14. I'm surprised more cars don't just come with 'dash' cams as standard nowadays, given that many have multiple cameras housed at the top of the windscreen/on the tailgate anyway (mine's got two or three up front and a reversing camera)
  15. Parthenonas is good, not been in a while though and it used to be cash only so be prepared for that! Once my other half and I went and we forgot it was cash only and he had to walk down the road to a cash point while the guy there kept giving me ouzo (I hate ouzo!) I think I went there once ages ago and it was nice and reasonably priced from memory
  16. I enjoyed it, it was interesting to see Ethiopia too as it did look stunning.
  17. Ahhh that makes sense then! So you'd have to change on to a blue one during the day time
  18. You can get the yellow or blue tram to Shalesmoor and swap on to the SL to get to Middlewood, or get the SL from near Ponds Forge to Middlewood. Not sure why it would mention Cathedral?
  19. Not too bad. Phoned this morning at around 10am and got an appointment for this afternoon, not an emergency.
  20. I like them, they remind me of the northern area of the Peaks which I assume is what they were going for.
  21. And if the footpath you're following runs through someone's private property, PLEASE clean up after your dog, and keep it on a lead! I love seeing walkers come through ours but can't stand the occasional 'presents' left behind. I don't go in to their gardens and let my dog run around and poop there after all!
  22. I change shoes to walk the dog, other than that can't be arsed getting changed to do different things!
  23. They're already aware and hoping to move it elsewhere. Apparently they didn't spell a road name correctly on it as well! Sounds like it was earmarked for upgrade before the service was taken from the road, and the work wasn't cancelled as it should have been.
  24. That's brilliant, he'll not notice anything in the long run but hopefully won't be out on the prowl for days any more! Our Tom is neutered, I'd never have one entire.
  25. I agree but, genuine question, why do you think people keep going on the show?
