  1. too funny.. i don't work at the millhouses, I'm a local who lives less than a mile away. Why is anyone who has an opinion accused of working there or at a rival pub? It's just snippy & plain childish... It's a matter of taste.. I like Doom Bar. To me it's a great drink, I really like it. It's obviously not your taste & that's fine but please don't tell me what I understand & what I don't understand about drinking beer or session beer for that matter. I agree with you though, it needs a local beer in, something from Kelham Island or Bradfield Brewery.. there's plenty of great local beer around here, they should have one in... & £3 is a bit steep for a pint, but The Waggon sells Doom bar at £2.90.. so there's not much in in.. JSimth's could be a bit cheaper though.. re: Ponsey.. again, a matter of taste, but to correct a paying customer who asks for more gravy by telling him it's not gravy, it's called "jus" IS ponsey by anyone's standards.
  2. your opinion is worthless, you haven't even been.
  3. Martin Dawes has actually been. Here's what he said.... http://www.thestar.co.uk/lifestyle/food-and-drink/food_review_the_millhouses_951_abbeydale_road_sheffield_s7_2qd_tel_0114_236_1103_1_4127095 Have you actually been or are you just gassing off for the sake of it?? ZLx
  4. I agree, Nedders should have addressed this with the staff at the time. It looks like Nedders has joined this site to post about the Millhouses. Time of joining match the original post, what's that tell you. Interestingly the Manager/Landlady has only been there for a week or so.. So give her a break & let her iron out any issues she finds. I've eaten there twice & thoroughly enjoyed both meals, I had slow cooked belly pork with roast potatoes & veg.. & was full after the meal & it was spot on. Then last Sunday (22nd Jan) we had a Sunday Roast & it was stunning. The roast Sirloin was cooked pink & was delicious & the veg were cooked to perfection, I asked for more gravy & got it in a flash. I'll be eating there this Sunday as well. I'm always looking for a good Sunday Dinner & have been all over, The Robin Hood is ok but is mass produced boil in the bag food, The Waggon & Horses is just okay, The Prince of Wales is good but over priced & a bit poncy (I asked for more gravy & I heard the chef shout, "it's not gravy, it's jus!".. ffs!). I've eaten at The Inn at Troway & that was good but the service was poor, The Cricketers was if I recall, a meager portion albeit cooked well. So as a complete package The Millhouses wins hands down. I also enjoy a nice pint & whilst it isn't the cheapest, the beer is great. They have Doom Bar which is a Cornish Beer, then there's Hobgoblin & two "sesssion" beers, Wherry & John Smiths, so that's four Cask Beers.. what more can a pub give.. I suggest Nedders try The Millhouses again & if he finds fault (which I've no doubt he'll be looking for) he addresses it with the Management at the time & not sneaks off to give the place a grubbing on a public forum. 5. hehe.. this posted cracked me up.. NG88 obviously aspires to be better than he is...Certainly his spelling alludes to Parsons Cross or The Manor or even Darnall... & have I missed something since I left school? is "non-intrusive" a new word or phrase? I understood the correct term to be unintrusive. I guess the Pretender NG88 wouldn't know that... NG88, I suggest you stick to "yore" end of the city, & try not to sully the nice bars & restaurants for your Betters! Fondest Regards ZL
  6. understandable... the food was awesome! Shame the service wasn't at the same high standard, still it could be just teething troubles...
  7. Piccolino's is great.. in town near the peace gardens
  8. Fair point.. too many kebab houses & chinese take aways, but a mexican take away would be great... I'd be there!
  9. the gratin was good & the beans cooked al dente & seasoned well... worth the money...
  10. my friend didn't complain to get money off, he complained because the service was worse than poor....
