  1. I tried Manzil for a takeaway recently and it was to be honest very good, although it could have done with a bit more heat for me. The guy in there said the chefs were from the Mangla so they should know what they are doing. Perhaps a bit pricey for a takeaway but then my favourite Kashmiri Aroma is too.
  2. Kashmiri Aroma at Woodseats always seemed to do decent takeaways but has been closed after the fire a few months ago. Does anyone know if it is planned to reopen?
  3. No alcohol on sale by the looks of it. I am not sure if you can take it in?
  4. Cafe Indus at the junction of London Rd and Sharrow Lane (formerly Urban Choola/Spoon) is worth a try. I have only had takeaways from there but they were all very good and not the usual bland offerings as from a lot of Sheffield "Indians". Staff were very pleasant too.
  5. Cookes Pet Suplies on Queens Rd Sheffield (also in Rotherham). Hulled sunflower seeds just over £20 for 20kg. They also do smaller bags and other seeds. By far the cheapest i have seen except the place in Hellaby mentioned above.
  6. I agree with nearly everything that Derby Tup says on Indian food however his recommendation of Takdir is very surprising. It is local to me but i rarely use it as it is a typically bland take away, even the desi section of the menu. A couple of takeaways I have not seen mentioned are Apna Lahore on Abbeydale Road, which makes nice spicy homestyle food and Abduls at the bottom of Eccy Road which is a West Yorkshire based chain making good asian style curries without the heat.
  7. I use it quite regularly as the wife likes it and it is ok, no blander than 95% of Sheffield "Indian" takeaways. I prefer the Apna styles personally but each to his own.
  8. I have had 3 take aways from Downtown Akabars and all been very good. It solves a problem with me and my wife as i like the desi style curries whereas she prefers the bog standard bland gloopy ones. These are probably bordering on desi style but not too too hot for my better half.
  9. After many years of travelling to Rotherham for a 9am start i have found the quickest way is definitely The Parkway. From Park Square roundabout to Rotherham Hospital will take you about 15mins. All the traffic is coming into Sheffield and you will get a clear run all the way to Catcliffe J33. If you go down past Meadowhall add on another 5-10 mins and be prepared to stop at every set of traffic lights. There are a lot of traffic lights!
  10. I can verify the fact that you can see the Humber Bridge from Ringinglow. If you go to the junction of Fulwood Lane and Greenhouse Lane there is an observation table that points to varying places of interest. With a pair of x12 magnification binoculars you can on a clear day make out the top of the towers. You do need the observation table though to point you in the right direction as at over 50 miles away they are difficult to make out.
  11. Has anyone tried Khushi on Abbeydale Road? I drove past tonight and it looks like its in the Kebabish (Neth Edge), Chaman style of layout. I do quite like the curry style of those 2 places as well, ie relatively dry curries. So has anyone been or had a takeaway????
