  1. If the FA really bothered about the little clubs, they would not have ruled for next season:

    · Clubs currently at Step 6 of The FA National League System should NOT apply to enter the FA Cup.

Clubs relegated from Step 5 to Step 6 for season 2024-25 will NOT be accepted to participate in the competition.

So for some little clubs, the FA Cup will not be in their fixture list next season.

  2. I suppose for a treat one could always let the goldfish have a turn swimming in the bath, but you'd have to take the coal out first/..

And if you've been taken in by the "If it's safe in water, it's safe in Lux" hype. It's the spin dryer that kills them.

On the same theme can anyone remember this shop - what is now Yates/Ask Italian on the corner of Division St/Cambridge St used to be a bit wasteland that was a small car park (on what I assume was the site of previously demolished buildings) if you were facing this car park with your back to Cole Brothers/John Lewis there was a shop next door, used to have stuff hung outside, looked a bit gothy and you went up a couple of steps to get in.

The shop was impulse. At the corner used to be the Albert Pub, (The Cole Brothers building was built on the site of the Albert Hall which burnt down in the 1930s). Just up Division Street was a former car showroom which became a burger restaurant opened by the brothers(?) who had the Chuck Ranch at Hillsborough.

Anyway, i recall that when i did - somewhere along the way there was a set of concrete steps (or stone ones.???) on my left, leading straight up to a pub on a corner  next to some trees and bushes tucked away on a backstreet that was obviously on higher ground than my level🎚️.

Could you have gone up the steps by Bacon Lane and then to the Woodbourne Hotel?

  5. Avoid interacting with pop-ups

Unless you’re confident that they are a legitimate ad, avoid interacting with pop-ups or webpages that seem to take over your screen.

If you see an annoying pop-up ad in Safari, you can go to the Search field and enter a new URL or search term to browse to a new site. If you don’t see the Search field on your iPhone or iPad, tap the top of the screen to make it appear.

Some pop-ups and ads have fake buttons that resemble a close button, so use caution if you try to close a pop-up or ad. If you're not sure, avoid interacting with it and close the Safari window or tab.

On your Mac, you can quit Safari, then press and hold the Shift key while opening Safari. This prevents Safari from automatically reopening any windows or tabs that were open.

  6. This was the furthest Hallam had reached in the FA Vase; the previous record was the 4th round. To go out on penalties was a sickener, but to force the game to penalties was an achievement,

Heroes all, Boldly going where no Hallam team had gone before.

And attracting good gates for that level. Ten year ago they were lucky to get triple figures.

    Well played Hallam!

p.s. They're at home Tuesday night.

Worse than that Anna, was sending out postcards when on holiday, Workmates, friends, relations...

All morning buying them, then all afternoon writing them, what a waste of a day that was.

You've not mentioned the practice of selecting different views of the place so that there were no duplications  - not that the recipients would ever see anyone else's card.

Can't write more - I'm doing my Christmas cards...

  8. Should Sheffield Eagles get promoted to the top tier, their admittance would depend on having a suitable stadium with at least 5000 capacity. Even after promotion, I'd be surprised if they would attract 3000.

One point that hasn't been mentioned is that during the week the car park at the new development would be used as a park and ride which should ease the congestion through Woodseats.

The suggestion of redeveloping Hallam FC's ground would mean losing the cricket pitch and levelling  the football pitch which has a pronounced slope away from the road. They certainly don't have the space up there for a Meadowhead typr development.
