  1. Critical Insurance DOES pay out if your claim is genuine. I took mine out in 1997 and last year had a pay out for an illness that's covered. Not sure it's as good as it used to be but I'm glad I took it out.
  2. Why the hell should us hard working people pay for them to have a baby? If they can't afford it then they shouldn't have it, simple. That's the big problem with the benefit system in this country.
  3. Where can you buy a house in London for less than £250k? My house was about £300k so put a £50k deposit down.
  4. Do you live in London? London is very expensive, £50k per year is good money but, once tax and 6% pension contribution is taken out you're left with about £34k per year. I used to earn that much last year and my take home was about £2800 per month, with that i had to pay: £1100 per month(repayment) on a £250k three bed terraced house. £120 council tax £400 per month for food £400 per month to the wife for house keeping ( she wasn't working because of baby) £300 for other bills like water, electricity, sky e.t.c £300 per month for family car. Total: £2690 so am left with about £300 for myself. The above does not include holidays or any fun times with the family. London is very expensive to live in. My mortgage is probably the biggest hit to my salary.
  5. Don't hate the player, hate the game. It's not their fault, the system would always be up for abuse until it's changed.
  6. Yeah i believe i made the right choice. Take away the benefit system and i gurantee a lot would do the same. But most are very comfortable having the state pay for their off spring. NOt me:mad:
  7. What i meant to say was if i could turn back time and be 23 again with the same dilema, would i do it again. My answer would be yes. Would i do it again now? Of course not as am a lot older and in a very strong relationship.
  8. Just pick up the phone and call your local social service and ask about the unwanted kids in care. But i bet you wouldn't as them unwanted kids ain't your problem.
  9. To you maybe, but am 100% happy we made that choice . Would i do it again YES.:D
  10. So how many kids are in care? If they were wanted why are their still in care?
  11. I agree that min wage should be increased and benefit cut. A girl at work just told me she is quitting work after having her baby as she would be better off being a full time mum. The council have asked her to find a place with a maximum rent of £700 per month plus all the other benefits she would get. She currently leaves with her father and she said she would have never been able to afford £700 per month in rent if she carried on working. Very sad when you hear things like the above but the system makes it so easy to abuse. No goverment would ever change the current system as their would be an uproar from people like the above that are milking it for all they can get.
