  1. Perfect for a Greggs' crawl... Nice easy route.
  2. IMO The Museum is bloody awful... dreadful drink options. Miserable staff. I'll never go again. Greene King is a terrible brewery run by accountants who no idea about decent beers.
  3. Maybe you don't. But I like an appropriate, strategic balance of residential, commercial and industrial properties within the city centre... People living in the centre contribute towards a dynamic and lively city, otherwise we just have a souless downtown USA type places that's are quiet after 9pm.
  4. Almost nailed it for me. Just delete the last 2 words and it's perfect. I like a changing selection of cask and keg of different styles and strengths.
  5. I had a pint of Sam Smith's bitter in Arundel about a year ago. Cheap as hell, but absolutely chuffin' awful. Club seemed friendly enough, all blokes though, no ladies.
  6. Not Sheffield but I'm glad to see that the wonky pub that was demolished by new owners in the Midlands is to be rebuilt. I'm definitely off for a pint there when it's been sorted. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2024/feb/27/owners-who-demolished-crooked-house-pub-after-fire-ordered-to-rebuild-it?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other
  7. My favourite pubs are The Union Hotel, Gareth and Sarah and all the staff doing a cracking job. No kids either. The Itchy Pigs, both have a tremendous, ever changing selection of different beers, both cask and keg. The Rising Sun at Fulwood, great choice of beers from Abbeydale Brewery and others. Sheaf View also good, Fat Cat, Kelham Island Tav. Norfolk Arms at Ringinglow. I like pubs where the staff remember your name and what your preferences are for a booze. Not keen on boozing in town although the Head of Steam is OK for pre theatre drinks. Fagans, The Grapes and Dog and Partridge good for Guinness. I've always been told the Hen and Chickens was a bit rough but I've never been in so can't really comment. Not even sure it's still open.
  8. Maybe the Broomhill Itchy Pig? The one at Eccy Road shows the 6 Nations games...
  9. Maybe Irene could offer some free sandwiches and coffees on board with a trolley whilst dressed as Mrs Overall. I'd definitely utilise it then.
  10. Chefs from the Mangla? Really? I wonder if it was the chefs from before it changed hands or after? It was never anything like as good after the new owners took over. I have heard a rumour that Manzil got a new chef(s), maybe this sort of backs it up. If we've got the old Mangla style food on Eccy Road then I'd be a happy man. The old Mangla snap was quite spicy so from what trin said in previous comment maybe they've changed their old recipes. I've just done nearly 4 weeks backpacking in India so I'll be giving curries a swerve for a while in the UK.
  11. If they're male virgins, it'll be 30 seconds of fame if they're lucky.
  12. Think they'll struggle to put bobbies out on foot due to lack of resources and funding cuts. They can be more efficient in a car... although I agree not much good if they're all parked up at the station.
  13. Thought that rubbish was sold in most pubs, apart from your real ale/micropub type places.
  14. I regularly use The Showroom and think its a fantastic local asset. I've made a donation too.
  15. The Express will print any old sh*te weather forecasts to shift their dirty rag.
  16. Friday and Sunday not too bad. Would've liked to have seen Milburn doing a session on one of the nights. For me, the best bands are in no particular order Paolo Nutini, Bombay Bicycle Club, Maximo Park, Magic Gang, Human League, Charlatans and Miles Kane. SEB might be ok for a cheeky dance too. If the weather turns out alreet, it'll be a good weekend. No weekend tickets up for resale on twickets atm...
  17. I reckon they'll be headlining on Saturday or Sunday looking at the other bands on the first release. I'm a tad disappointed at the initial list of bands tbh. I quite like Bombay Bicycle Club and Paulo Nutini but for me not really top of the bill stuff... Was hoping for Catfish and was dreaming of Cage The Elephant...ah well, if the sun's out, we'll have a good time anyways.
  18. So we're back to digging up ancient threads again...

  20. Slightly off topic but which of the micropubs were awful in Hillsborough? I generally much prefer micropubs to the traditional pub. I've not tried any in Hillsborough though, I tend to stick around Ecclesall Road.
  21. I forgot that Hallam FM even existed. Mind you I'm an old fart that just listens to R4 these days...
  22. Can't believe the spelling of flu is still being discussed...
  23. I personally prefer the wood fired style pizze, ever since my first visit to Naples in 2007. Although some are cooked in electric ovens ( I think Napoli Centro is electric, but the best in Sheffield IMO). The ingredients tend to be better quality and they don't make you feel bloated after you've eaten one. In Naples they are still regarded as peasant food and you can get a great margarita for around €4.
