  1. Do you have a budding little diva or a rock star in waiting? Singing lessons are a fantastic way to let your little one indulge their creative and expressive side whilst also learning valuable skills that will help them throughout school and beyond. Singing lessons are not only fun but help build confidence, communication skills, critical thinking skills, focus and self-discipline as well as being a feel good activity. Our children's lessons are taught by Kate Hogan (CRB checked), a friendly singer and vocal coach who has been teaching children since 2005. We're opening our brand new studio at the beginning of September, just near Meadowhall Shopping Centre, so now is the perfect time to book a taster lesson. For more information please contact Kate on 07862247482 or email kate@sheffieldsinginglessons.co.uk

  3. Hi, My band are looking for a female singer to join the ranks and cover for me while I get me poor old vocal cords better!! We're looking for someone with a big voice and lots of talent! Give me a shout if you are interested or know anyone who might be! Must be 18+ ideally, local to Sheffield (or willing to travel), function experience preferred but if you've got the talent it doesn't matter. We've got paid gigs booked in all year, so we're looking for someone who can learn quick and hit the ground running. Our set list includes covers of songs by Adele, Tina Turner, Pink, Kings of Leon, Stevie Wonder, CeeLo Green, Florence + The Machine and many more, so a versatile voice is key! Must be willing to rehearse weekly. Auditions will be held over the next two weeks, so please get in touch asap. ::UPDATE:: We have now found a stand in singer - thanks.
  4. We are looking for fun, charismatic female singers to join a vocal harmony group. This is not a choir! We're looking for all kinds of vocal styles from classical to rap and if you're a beatboxer we'd love to hear from you! If you've got an ear for music, have a strong confident voice and aren't afraid to bust a move or two then get in touch! Email kate@sheffieldsinginglessons.co.uk for more info
  5. Thank you Hi Lotti, I think you have already contacted me looking forward to meeting you tomorrow *** By the way folks, we've just had a new male vocal coach start at the academy - he also teaches guitar and songwriting (talented guy!) - he's only in one day a week though so book in before he's booked up! www.sheffieldsinginglessons.co.uk
  6. Hiya guys, If you email me some info, I'll stick it up in my vocal studio - never know, one of my vocal students might be interested
  7. Hi Jamie, We have a fantastic Musical Theatre vocal coach at The South Yorkshire Singing Academy. If you'd like to know more, you can take a look around www.sheffieldsinginglessons.co.uk or you can email me at kate@sheffieldsinginglessons.co.uk - I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have. Kate
  8. Still keeping an eye out for you but all the rock vocalists I have coming through already have bands :S
  9. Paul Taylor is a fab vocal coach who specialises in classical voice, I teach down at Harmony also and our crossover students always speak highly of him. Peter Taylor, I think specialises in classical and musical theatre. Do you mean Paul Newman? I've not heard of Peter Newman but Paul teaches a variety styles. I specialise in contemporary from Musical Theatre through to Rock.
  10. Hi Jamie, The vocal coaches you've listed teach different styles, so it really does depend on what style you want to learn. Use that as a way of narrowing your search and then give each individual a call and have a chat with them. That should help you decide. It's always worth booking in a short session with more than one coach to see who's teaching style and personality works best for you. Hope that helps a little!
  11. I think that's always an option if you can't find a singer and that's really where having a vocal coach can make all the difference. Vocal coaching is a lot more to do with building up confidence than folks realise. To be fair, any singer that hasn't had training really ought to look into having a few sessions with a coach just to make sure they know how to properly conserve their voices, especially when singing in a rock band. I think singers often underestimate how valuable just a couple of hours worth of training can be to their singing.
  12. P.S. I wasn't haven't a feminist rant at the top of the page by the way! It's just meant as a suggestion!! Like I said, my band never really thought about a female singer until someone else suggested it! Good luck
  13. Chanser, it's great to see some more female fronted bands emerging on the scene - it's really refreshing! Out of all the gigs I've played with my band, I think I've only played with another female singer on a couple of occassions. Hairmot, I'm sorry you're having trouble finding a singer - I don't think you can tar female singers or just singers in general with being time wasters though! Just seems likes you've had a really bad run of luck!! Keep at it though, it only takes one person to walk through the door and be a perfect fit! My band had issues finding a singer but couldn't find a guy that fit the part well enough, then they decided to try finding a female singer - the first one showed up and didn't want to sing! (I think they picked her up in corp tho!!) Then the second lady they got in quit after a month and after all that I approached them about a jam session and none of us have looked back since. My advice is to contact singing teachers, I don't have any female metal vocalists on my books at the moment but there are a fair few singing teachers around - it's worth while just giving them a ring! Still keeping my ears and eyes peeled for a singer for you, Johnny!
  14. ...there seems to be a lot of you! And not a lot of the male hard rock vocalists that you're searching so desperately for! Here's an idea...why not cast your net 50% wider and invite some female vocalists down for a jam?? Yeah you might have to sift through a few Hayley Williams wannabees first (unless pop-rock is your thing in which case there are loads of female singers posting for you to get in touch!!) but there are some amazing female rock vocalists about who can give the guys a run for their money and deliver some brutal hardcore vocals through to soaring melodic vocals. Would be nice to read "Metal band seeks female singer" every once in a while... Anyways, enough of my late night ramblings! (But seriously, give the female vocalist thing some thought gents!)
  15. Have a look further down the list of threads. There's a guy called Johnny West looking for a hard rock vocalist...might be of interest? I know he's been looking for a while so worthwhile dropping him a message and seeing if he's found anybody yet.
