  1. Agreed - being a part of the Bus staff (not as a driver) a lot of drivers have told me about how they SHOULD have right of way but always have that air of caution, even at give ways for them ect.

As a Learner in a Class 2 truck I realise this myself - having fouling a sharp turn but observing a car in my OS mirror - I know how blind your blind spots are!

I'm not making any excuses for any drivers in the previous posts - but I always make myself room on a what-if - and always prefer to give way to busses, HGV's ect. Due to the fact that contact hurts - you get taken out of their tyre treads later. ;)

Top marks darkstardust, you sound like someone after my own heart. Strive to do the best in your chosen profession.

  2. lets hope that 'hotel rwanda' will also feature in the curriculum at some point in the future too.

the depravity of the human race never ceases to amaze me ...my family are polish and my great uncle died in a concentration camp, finding out of this as a child led me to study politics of mass murder and genocide in later life. this took me to rwanda where i encountered images that will haunt me for the rest of my life. however, i also encountered forgiveness and hope and met people who are truly inspirational.

The hope and inspiration of these people should be received by us all. I must admit that I struggle with the forgiveness, but concede that this is an important factor of ensuring that these horrors do not recur.

  3. the corner of stradbroke road and chapel street at the side of the co-op there is a island so the bus driver cant go any where and cant wait in the previous stop as his view of chapel st is blocked by the co-op, and would be able to make judgement till they passed the lorry exit thus bringing bus in line with island as it is supposed busses cant reverse in service then bus driver is in a catch 22 situation, however any car driver parked on double yellows should have more consideration to move, driving is common sense and courtesy and safe driving not selfish, arrogant, do as i want, them sort of drivers need to be bannished of the road for good.

I'm with ya mate. However, I went to the Co-op last night by car and found myself stuck behind a bus that couldn't make the turn because a car was parked on the double yellows (again!). To my amazement, the buses reversing lights kicked in along with a bleeping sound, the bus pulled back a couple of feet, and then pulled forward again clearing the obstacle! Was this because it was Saturday night and the bus driver was keen to get back for a jar? who knows? Think I will consult my pall dink on this one.

  4. My aunty used to say to me when I was younger, stick your leg out trip him up . Although not while the bus was very close of course :hihi:. I now realise I would never have been able to trip the bus up :(. One bus driver gave me a full roll of unused bus ticket paper. How good did I feel :D.

You must have felt real good. when I was a kid we had to tear the wood chip off the wall when we ran out of bog roll! :(

  5. You are a bit behind the times there. Compulsory bus stops are a thing of the past even in London (despite what the locals there think).

ALL bus stops require the passenger to signal clearly to the driver to stop. If one service uses the stop there is still no requirement to stop as the person may just be sheltering from the weather or waiting to meet somebody.

Are you saying that the bus driver has to rely on his passengers to signal him when to stop to pick up a potential passenger??

  6. When are you going to learn to read anyone elses post?

I'm quite capable of standing alone and dismantling your gibberish, the problem is, to every statement or correction you simply respond with more gibberish.

It's like trying to argue with a three year old.

To be fair, I don't think that you are capable of dismantling this mans opinions. Calling everything gibberish, saying that he is like a three year old, telling him to keep up, etc. is hardly dismantling. You sound like someone who has bitten off more than they can chew, but are too stubborn to back down gracefully.

No disrespect, but that’s how it looks from where I am sitting.

  7. haha can not believe your lot still moaning about this, lets face it this country is doomed the foreighners are getting there own way over our people cause this government is full off cowards, and let them do what they want maybe wipe theire own arse for them.

If you read your history books mr postman, you will find that we are all foreigners. No one truly owns this land or any other. the Human race is nomadic by nature. :)

  8. I am a talented plasterer, but I don’t think that this would hold the gaze of your guests for long, unless they were paying customers, then they would be stood behind me watching me like hawks! Although due to the current recession, I am used to working for next to nowt!

Have you tried approaching any of the local amateur Performing Arts groups? I would think that they would jump at the chance to showcase their talents.

    Good luck and best wishes.

  9. It's amusing for residents, I've even seen a neighbour filming one altercation (I bet his parties go with a swing...). Except not when someone is trying to parallel park and a standoff starts with someone who can't wait a minute.

I never fail to understand why people just carry on to the back of the jam if they can see there's a staring match going on, and then add to the chaos. Is it like that thing where if a schoolkid yells 'fight' everyone has to go and join in? ;)

Yeah, I miss all that, guess I'm just a nostalgic old fool.

Not quite sure it's the same sort of thing though, unless a resident runs to the top of the road wearing a sandwich board saying "Caution, do not enter this road, standoff in progress". ;)

  10. Classic, and i bet it was the bus driver who got the hassel from the people behind!

Some people are so selfish, just like that bloke who i boxed in on the manor top bus stop this afternoon, if you dont wanta be trapped dont park in a bus stop, and piping at me and flashing your lights for me to shift wont help either!:D

To be honest, the Co-op staff got all the hassle for leaving their positions for a nosey.

Perhaps the bus driver should have got all the hassle for not reading the situation as a professional driver.

If he had observed the obstacle, it would have made sense that he wait in a convenient place until it was removed, without snarling up the whole of Woodhouse.

Who knows? As you say, some people are so selfish.
