  1. Sorry to be so late to this debate - I have just arrived home after working away for a while and am shocked at this news. However, what I find incredulous is that those who previously opposed a merger are on here stating we "told you so" - the very same people who swore they would never send their kids there, yet in these threads admit that they DO have kids there now. Surely the approach is for all to get behind our Community school, support agreed actions and work to get out of these special measures ASAP. A call for changes to Leadership does not seem to change those ends - a great head does not become a bad Head overnight. What I would like to see on here is an update on the response to the OFSTED report - from what I have read from my kids who still attend there, there was to be an appeal against the findings - any news on that?? Certainly nothing through my door on that as far as I can see. Action needs to be based on facts, so what are the current facts on this? Please advise??
  2. Where are the Calamity Aces this year? I saw them twice at Tram Lines last year in different venues and they were just great! I have heard that they are now a new band but who and when?? - perhaps not this weekend, but when??????
  3. There has been so much negativity over the last couple of years on the Forum - so - here is a thready where we can all post what is really good ab9out the area that we live in - this thread relates to hillssborough and supporting areas - so happy to accept malin Bridge, Wadsley, Wiswewood - etc - AND NO - not meant to be exclusive at all, so lets not start negative. PLEASE - follow rules of the thread in the spirit that its meant and let's see if it works _ ABSOLUTLEY SUPPORTIVE AND POSITIVE COMMENTS ONLY - MY STARTER FOR 10 ( 5 actually): 1. Beres sausage rolls. 2. Cheap and excellent hair cuts from £3 for a male and slightly more for a female (couldn't belive today colleagues in London pay up to £150 per time regularly.........) 3. Range of nail and beauty boutiques (?????) 4. Sport - Sheffield hillsborough hawks rugby, Bowling, Sheffield pumas soccer, ....and I guess those OWLS?????? 5. Minto Road dental surgery and so on ---- please add but keep to the quircky spirit of this thread :)
  4. Nothing cos he can't. Forgemasters - big electoral mistake. Student loans - loads live in his constituency and are being actively encouraged to sign up to vote in Hallam rather than their own hometowns. He hasn't a chance next time - a truly dead political man walking. Shame!
  5. He and the party lost Sheffield the minute that Mr Clegg signed up with the Tories, and in particular, when they reneged on the Forgemaster loan. The people of Sheffield will never forgive the party who hoodwinked us all into accepting modernising values around democracy, libertariansm, only to fall back into pure Thatcherism once elected - and Forgemasters is the local example. Unfortunaltey, Clegg, Scriven and all they stand for has thrown back the principles of Social and Liberal democracy a good 25 years and perhaps forever. No wonder the Av vote was lost, and that we are left with a 2 party state once again.
  6. It's our cover that has been stolen twice - first the mesh cover and now the new blue plastic one.
  7. Absolutely concur. Please patrol it and lets make it safe for pedestrians, drivers, people with disabilities and blue badge holders, and lets keep responsible here
  8. Have to agree with all on this who support a ban here. This is Kamikaze strip and I'm amazed that it doesn't get regularly patrolled! The amounht of illegal parking without blue badges amazes me - absolutely causing the bottle necks described. Equally, have to agreed with previous poster - ONCE pedestrian crossing, then fine, their right of way, but this kamikaze mentality of walk first without looking is most ridiculous. Today, there was even double parking - blue badges both sides of what is really a single road to top car park or coop car park, and no way through at all for cars coming in or out! This held up the Supertram as well, as there was a log jam back onto the main road. This needs some pretty quick action as despite whether you have a blue badge or not, you just cant go and cause an obstruction! Thanks for reading
  9. Astonished to see no response to this one? What's going on here??
  10. Can't wait for my child to go there. I just wish issues around the awful derelict college building next door could be resolved though as it does seem to be a blight or even a blot on the landscape!
  11. Didn't know that - thanks! will make enquiries without seeming to offend them as new neighbours and then perhaps a quiet word or two............
  12. There is no decent newsagent in Hillsborough - OK, a stall in the precinct has started selling newspapers but NOT quality magazines. There is no music shop anymore in Hillsborough - stopped after Andy's records went - Blockbuster picked this up for a while but only boring chart stuff - there are no decent men's clothes shops in Hillsborough - limited to Burton's with a tad added on by Peacocks as a way of tokenism; there are no decent book shops other than second hand books in the various Charity shops - so - wonder why Hillsborough is dying? Do you all go and buy these things from Morrison's, from Tesco, from Asda etc etc? We need to support our local businesses IF we wish free and fair trade to continue without being tied to the huge mega corps who seem to run our purchasing for us by ensuring that all these local businesses go out of business.!
  13. Mine would be also if I could get on it - new neighbours who seem to choose to park cars and vans across it it preventing access at all hours of day and night. No potholes on it though - I guess cos I can't use it just now!!!!
  14. Apparently, staff can be a bit rude though - allegedly! - and it's getting a bit dilapidated. Good atmosphere though at times. On balance - yeh, I would probably book there for a venue in Sheffield 6. However, the new bowling club just round the corner has competitive function rooms as well and worth a look. Apprently, reasonable prices for hiring
  15. Radio Sheffield pormised that where emptying had been delayed that it would be done on Saturday, after 3 weeks without - however Saturday did not materialise at all - poor info given out I would hazard a guess. However. in a beautiful and deep sleep this morning until 7.15am when was woken by the flashing lights and loud noise made by bins being emptied - a little strange in that our normal delivery is now only a couple of days away so why overtime on a Sunday? Anyway, thank you - you guys did at least not just empty the bin but also took the extra 7 - yes 7 - extra sacks that had piled up as well.............. due to previous none collections
